  • Publication number: 20130055237
Abstract: A software system, such as an operating system, that has multiple parts can be deployed to a computing device incrementally, rather than all at once. The software system self-adapts to the user's needs by installing and removing system extensions automatically without user intervention. A core part of the software system is deployed in the computing device, and system extensions are delivered to the computing device when needed. The software system is aware of the system extensions, so they appear to be part of the system, even though they have not yet been downloaded. The system extensions can be delivered to the computing system on demand or over time during idle times of the computing device. Unused system extensions can be removed from the computing device, and can be downloaded again when next needed.

  • Publication number: 20130043939
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for providing test mode contact pad reconfigurations that expose individual internal functional modules or block groups in an integrated circuit for testing and for monitoring. A plurality of switches between each functional module switches between passing internal signals among the blocks and passing in/out signals external to the block when one or more contact pads are strapped to input a pre-determined value. Another set of switches between the functional modules and input/output contact pads switch between functional inputs to and from the functional modules and monitored signals or input/output test signals according to the selected mode of operation.

  • Publication number: 20130022101
Abstract: Various methods and systems are provided for adaptable video architectures. In one embodiment, a method for adapting video processing of a video device includes processing a video stream along a first pipeline pathway defined by a plurality of interconnected pipeline elements. In response to detecting a change in a system condition of the video device, the pipeline pathway is transitioned to a second pipeline pathway by reconfiguring at least one of the pipeline element interconnections. In another embodiment, a method includes obtaining a video stream. A first subset bitstream having a first resolution is processed in a video pipeline of a video device and video information is extracted from the video pipeline during the processing. At least a portion of the extracted video information is then to a video pipeline of the video device for processing a second subset bitstream having a second resolution higher than the first resolution.

  • Patent number: 8073665
Abstract: A method for analyzing an oilfield network. The method includes collecting oilfield data from an oilfield network, modeling a first wellsite and a second wellsite using the oilfield data to create a first production model of the first wellsite and a second production model of the second wellsite. The method further includes modeling a sub-network of the oilfield network to create a third production model of the sub-network. The modeling of the sub-network includes identifying a junction of branches associated with the first wellsite and the second wellsite. A fourth production model is created for the junction by combining the first production model with the second production model. The production model of the sub-network is created using the fourth production model of the junction. The method further includes solving the oilfield network based on the third production model to create a production result, and storing the production result.

  • Publication number: 20110269692
Abstract: Therapeutic compounds which are cell proliferation modulators, preferably inhibitors. These modulators contain amino acid structures that are arranged as a hydrophilic analog of an alpha-fetoprotein. The modulator may be a peptide itself, e.g., an octapeptide like that of SEQ ID NO: 5; a peptidomimetic; or may be in the form of a pharmaceutically acceptable scaffold, such as a polycyclic hydrocarbon to which is attached the necessary amino acid structures for biological and/or chemical activity. The modulators of the invention are distinguished in one aspect over previous compounds in that they are orally active, and therefore do not have to be injected into the patient. The compositions and methods are useful for reducing estrogen-dependent and estrogen-independent growth of cells, and treating or preventing cancer, such as breast cancer, brain cancer, head-and-neck cancer, thyroid cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, cervical cancer, and skin cancer.
