  • Patent number: 3968000
Abstract: An end plug is formed by heat-sealing or welding a V-shaped section cut from the wall of a first pipe to a complementary shaped butt end of a second pipe.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 7, 1975
Date of Patent: July 6, 1976
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: James C. Carroll, Clel H. Shafer
  • Patent number: 3953059
Abstract: A connection of a first pipe to the wall of a second pipe or container is disclosed. A hole is formed through the wall of a second pipe or container which is of a diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the first pipe. At least the connection end of the first pipe consists essentially of a polymer of ethylene or a copolymer of ethylene and a small quantity of mono-1-olefins having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms. The polymer preferably has a weight average molecular weight of above 200,000. The connection portion of the first pipe is cold-swaged and inserted into the hole. Due to the mechanical memory of the cold-swaged end of the first pipe, it recovers towards its original shape to form a firm connection between the first pipe and the second pipe or container wall. A sealant can be applied between the first and the second pipe.

  • Patent number: 3951265
Abstract: A three-level stacking container adpated to stack within a lower container of like construction in a low-level stack position or an intermediate-stack position, or stack on said lower container in a high-stack position, depending upon the orientation of said upper container with respect to said lower container. Opposing first and second wall structures of said container comprise bar members which extend in an upwardly direction between a lower border flange and an upper rim. Said bar members are arranged such that the bar members of an upper container parallel the bar members of a lower container when said upper container is stacked within said lower container. If desired, "blind stacking" means can be provided for blind stacking the containers at said low-level stack position and said intermediate-level stack position.

  • Patent number: 3943272
Abstract: The fitting is mountable on a cellular steel floor or deck prior to pouring of the concrete of a completed floor and comprises a separable flat base plate, a box-like housing, and a cover plate. Two self-grommeted openings in the base plate are axially aligned with respective openings of substantially equal size leading to adjacent cells of the deck, and a tab on the base plate at one of the grommeted openings interlocks with the deck to hold the base plate in position. Horizontally directed slots formed in the base plate along one longitudinal edge thereof cooperate selectively with tabs on the lower longitudinal edges of the housing to lock the housing on the base plate selectively in either of two positions. Screws or rivets may be used as additional fastening means for the base plate and housing.

  • Patent number: 3937327
Abstract: A nesting and stacking container adapted to nest in a like oriented lower container of like construction, and stack on said lower container at two different elevations when rotated from said like orientation to different stations of rotation. The wall structures of said container are dissimilar and each comprises bar members which extend between the bottom and upper rim of the container. Each of said wall structures also comprises a first plurality of stacking feet and a first plurality of stacking saddles disposed in a first vertical plane located adjacent a side of said bottom, and a second plurality of stacking feet and a second plurality of stacking saddles disposed in a second vertical plane located adjacent but outside said first vertical plane.
