    Abstract: A diode structure and a method of fabrication of the diode structure is described. In one example, the diode structure is a PIN diode structure and includes an N-type layer formed on a substrate, an intrinsic layer formed on the N-type layer, and a P-type layer formed on the intrinsic layer. The P-type layer forms an anode of the diode structure, and the anode is formed as a quadrilateral-shaped anode. According to the embodiments, a top surface of the anode can be formed with one or more straight segments, such as a quadrilateral-shaped anode, to reduce at least one of a thermal resistance or an electrical on-resistance. These changes, among others, can improve the overall power handling capability of the PIN diode structure.

    Abstract: The presently disclosed technology teaches integrating disc drive electronics into a transducer head. Decreased electrical transit times and data processing times can be achieved by placing the electronics on or within the transducer head because electrical connections may be made physically shorter than in conventional systems. The electronics may include one or more of a control system circuit, a write driver, and/or a data buffer. The control system circuit generates a modified clock signal that has a fixed relation to phase and frequency of a bit-detected reference signal that corresponds to positions of patterned bits on the disc. The write driver writes outgoing data bits received from an external connection to off-head electronics directly to the writer synchronized with the modified clock signal. The data buffer stores and converts digital data bits sent from the off-head electronics to an analog signal that is synchronized with the modified clock signal.

    Abstract: A system and method for accurately estimating engine noise at a virtual microphone location, such as an occupant's ear position, in an acoustic space in order to enhance performance of an Engine Order Cancellation (EOC) system is provided. A set of weights and transfer functions that are dependent on various vehicle parameters, such as frequency, load, and speed, may be employed to estimate noise at a position where there are no physical microphones present. The accurate estimation of engine noise at virtual location, such as an occupant's ear position, may be achieved using a frequency dependent weighted sum of filtered and unfiltered error signals measured at microphones mounted at various locations inside an acoustic space, such as a vehicle cabin, which may not be located near virtual location.

The wireless AP and wireless STAs associated with the collaborative APs can simultaneously transmit by applying collaborative beamforming where the interferences between channels nullify each other (e.g., nulling), and the beamforming is performed based on a sounding phase performed by the collaborative APs. The sounding protocol can include a collaborative sounding measurement phase and a collaborative sounding feedback report phase, using Null Data Packets (NDPs), for example, as described herein according to embodiments of the present invention.

    Abstract: A system and method for fabricating large composite fuselages or other vehicle structures, in which the composite structure is fabricated and cured as on a tool, segmented and removed from the tool without disassembling the tool, and then reassembled off the tool to reform the large structure. The tool includes mandrel segments attached to a substructure. The attachments may be moveable to accommodate differential expansion and contraction during curing, and the tool may be rotatable to facilitate access. A composite material of resin and synthetic fibers is applied over the mandrel segments to fabricate the structure on the tool. Caul plates are secured over the composite material, and the composite material is cured on the tool. The resulting structure is cut into part segments which are then removed from the tool, and the part segments are joined to reassemble the large composite structure off the tool.
