  • Publication number: 20160184999
Abstract: A utility knife is provided that has an elongated main body portion and a head assembly that is separate from the main body portion. The main body portion has a handle assembly. A main body fastening mechanism is provided at one distal end of the handle assembly, and a handle assembly fastening mechanism is provided at one end of the handle assembly. A threaded pin pivotally fastens the main body portion to the head assembly by connecting the main body fastening mechanism to the handle assembly fastening mechanism. Accordingly, the head assembly can pivot with respect to the main body portion and handle assembly, so that the utility knife can be configured to cut an object at different angles, which can be particularly useful for the knife to fit in a tight cutting space.

  • Patent number: 9379643
Abstract: An electrosurgical generator may reduce unintended tissue damage by improving regulation of output power. The electrosurgical generator may control the power during a cycle, and react to a change in power if arcing occurs. Voltage sources, especially, demonstrate the tendency to have large, uncontrolled power excursions during normal electrosurgical use. The magnitude of the power excursions may be dependent on various factors. An exemplary electrosurgical generator control scheme reduces or minimizes the thermal spread by accurately supplying the specified power within a few cycles. Additionally, fast and accurate regulation provided by the constant voltage mode reduces or minimizes unintentional tissue charring. Thus, reduced thermal spread and charring should result in better surgical outcomes by reducing scarring and decreasing healing times.

  • Publication number: 20160023021
Abstract: An ultrasonic motion generator includes a non-resonant inverter, an ultrasonic transducer, and a comparator. The non-resonant inverter inverts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) having a first frequency. The ultrasonic transducer is electrically coupled with the non-resonant inverter and generates an ultrasonic motion based on the inverted AC. The comparator automatically detects a deviation of the first frequency from a resonant frequency of the ultrasonic transducer based on motion current passing through the ultrasonic transducer and generates an output signal based on the deviation to drive the non-resonant inverter.

  • Publication number: 20150261578
Abstract: A resource management node includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory includes computer readable program code that when executed by the processor causes the processor to perform operations. The operations can include, for each of a plurality of guest virtual machines (VMs), determining operational resources of physical host machines available in a distributed computing system that are needed to provide the guest VM. A placement scenario for placing the guest VMs on the physical host machines and placing the physical host machines in cabinets of a distributed computing system is generated. An amount of infrastructure of the distributed computing system used by the placement scenario is determined. A determination is made whether the placement scenario satisfies a defined rule for how much infrastructure of the distributed computing system can be used.

  • Publication number: 20150261574
Abstract: A resource management node includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory includes computer readable program code that when executed by the processor causes the processor to perform operations. The operations can include identifying an unproductive group of guest virtual machines (VMs) that satisfy a defined rule for being unproductive on an first group of physical host machines based on infrastructure of a distributed computing system used by the first group of the physical host machines to host the guest VMs. A relocation scenario is generated for relocating the unproductive group of the guest VMs from the first group of the physical host machines to a second group of the physical host machines. An effect of the relocation scenario on infrastructure usage of the distributed computing system is estimated.
