  • Publication number: 20130322841
Abstract: A particular method includes displaying a user interface for a media recorder in response to first user input. The method includes receiving a command to display recording space for the media recorder via the user interface. The method also includes sending a representation of the recording space to a display device. The representation includes a first indicator of available recording space, a second indicator of recording space used to store first media content that is deletable without additional user input when one or more conditions are met, and a third indicator of recording space used to store second media content, where an item of the second media content can only be deleted by the media recorder when the media recorder receives a user command to delete the item.

  • Publication number: 20130316714
Abstract: An architecture can dynamically update or set facility variables for adapting cell site (e.g., base station) characteristics in a wireless communication network. In particular, based upon a current configuration or state of facility equipment as well as various operation data, the architecture can determine or infer a reconfiguration of a facility variable that can adjust the configuration or state of the facility equipment. The reconfiguration can be directed to improving efficiency, mitigating errors, and/or more effectively providing services and allocating resources.

  • Publication number: 20130148939
Abstract: A method includes receiving a data stream at a media device and extracting data from the data stream. The data corresponds to received media content. The method further includes storing the extracted data at a memory as stored media content and determining whether the stored media content corresponds to expected media content. The method also includes, in response to determining that the stored media content does not correspond to the expected media content, sending a content request to a server. The content request identifies a segment of the expected media content that does not correspond to the stored media content.

  • Publication number: 20130143553
Abstract: Systems and methods that utilize femtocell access points (FAP) to perform radio frequency (RF) network sweeps are provided. In one embodiment, a method includes: predicting an availability of an access point (AP) to perform an RF network sweep; and determining that the access point is available to perform the RF network sweep based, at least, on a prediction that a mobile device on a white list for the access point is not likely to access the access point during a time interval associated with performing the RF network sweep. In another embodiment, a method includes: comparing a network quality characteristic for a wireless channel associated with a FAP with a network quality characteristic for a wired network communicatively coupled to the FAP. The network quality characteristics can be the same. The method can then include employing the comparison to determine to which network an impairment is attributable.

Upon receiving information relating to at least the activity at the target location, stored data related to the activity and the target location are gathered. A probability of a service disruption at the target location based on at least the stored data related to the activity and the target location is assessed and the target location is monitored. • Publication number: 20120244833
Abstract: Receipt of a radio broadcast signal by a mobile communication device is tracked based on a signal strength measurement signal and location information. The signal strength measurement signal indicate a signal strength of the radio broadcast signal, received via a communication channel and measured at the mobile communication device, over a particular time period. The location information indicates a location of the mobile communication device within a geographic area over the particular time period. Effectiveness of the radio broadcast signal is determined with respect to receipt of the radio broadcast signal by a plurality of mobile communication devices within the geographic area over the particular time period.

  • Publication number: 20120149328
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to mobile communication device users sharing their subscribed network services with other mobile communication device users. A borrowing mobile communication device is provided with the ability to remotely connect to a lending mobile communication device and use the subscribed network services of the lending mobile communication device when needed. This method allows the user of the lending mobile communication device to share subscribed network services. Besides using network services, it is possible to share displays between two mobile communication devices. A user of a lending mobile communication device shares the current display with a borrowing mobile communication device and vice-versa. This allows sharing among people who are not family members. Any registered user may subscribe to this network service sharing service and create a peer network. Users have the option to turn sharing on or off in the lending preferences.

  • Publication number: 20120149404
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for delivering enhanced message content to subscribers and for overcoming common incompatibilities found in message delivery mechanisms. Exemplary embodiments, of the present subject disclosure profile an intended recipient's network capabilities, the intended recipient's device, and/or the recipient's service feature profile. This profile is leveraged to predictively and adaptively adjust the subsequent enhanced message content delivery process. Further, content modification can be applied for those cases where there is a defined mismatch that can be handled in order to facilitate delivery of the substance of the enhanced content. Finally, in cases where the content needs to be delivered intact to the intended recipient, but where the recipient network, the recipient's device and/or the recipient's service profile do not allow for delivery, the content may be delivered to an alternative device or system.

  • Patent number: 8166162
Abstract: Automating event detection in a communications network includes correlating reports, issued by users experiencing an outage or a performance degradation for a service provided by a service provider, to identify a network element associated with the outage or the performance degradation. It is determined whether a predetermined threshold is crossed based on the reports. A customer-facing portion of the network element associated with the reports is adaptively reset, based on determining whether the predetermined threshold is crossed.

  • Patent number: 8108720
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for predicting failures in power supplies. A count of exception messages is set to zero. When a exception message is received, the count of exception messages is incremented and compared to a threshold value. When the count of exception messages equals the threshold value, a cooling fan is determined to be failed, and a prediction is made that a power supply is proceeding towards failure.
