  • Publication number: 20120259531
Abstract: A method is provided including determining a first power level required from a diesel powered system. The first power level corresponds to a first proportion of a maximum power. The method also includes determining an emission output for a mission based on the first power level. The method further includes determining a second power level corresponding to a second proportion of the maximum power, wherein alternate use of the second power level and at least one of the first power level or a third power level results in a lower emission output for the mission, with the overall resulting power being proximate the minimum power required. The method also includes automatically controlling operation of the diesel powered system by using the second power level alternately with at least one of the first power level or the third power level.

  • Patent number: 7680861
Abstract: A system and process is presented that identifies nearby objects and/or points in relation to a base object or point. An object or point is nearby if it resides within a prescribed area around the base point. The identification is based on information accessed from a database of geometric data. The identification of nearby neighbors begins by dividing the geographic system defined by said geometric data into a plurality of zones. The zone in which each object or point resides and the zones intersected by the prescribed area are determined. The nearby objects and/or points of interest are then identified by initially considering only those that are identified as residing in the zones intersected by the prescribed area. The search for nearby neighbors can be further refined by limiting the objects and/or points considered to those with locations within the lateral extent and/or within the height of the prescribed area.

  • Patent number: 7621995
Abstract: A viscosity modifying agent is added to a concrete mixture to give the concrete desirable rheological properties. The viscosity modifying agent is incorporated into a foam admixture before it is mixed into the concrete. Because the viscosity modifying agent is a component of the foam admixture, the viscosity modifying agent is dispersed in the aqueous film that forms the foam bubbles. The viscosity modifier in the foam bubbles gives the foam beneficial rheological properties. The viscosity modifier performs more efficiently when included in the foam bubbles as compared to being mixed directly into the concrete. The foam bubbles containing the viscosity modifier can be stabilized using a fluorochemical stabilizer, which is included in the foam admixture. The foam bubbles can be further stabilized with respect to cement mixtures by including a hydration stabilizing in the cement mixture.

  • Patent number: 7616625
Abstract: A system and method for enhanced data connections via an asymmetric data network receives incoming modem calls and discriminates those intended for enhanced service Web or other service, for instance by domain name. Those calls destined for that type of enhanced treatment may be received via modem banks or other RAS resources communicating with the PSTN or otherwise, and directed to an enhancement cluster or other nodes or locations for compression, caching, optimization or other processing designed to give the user's Web browsing or other service an improved or more responsive feel. According to embodiments of the invention in one regard, the user IP sessions may be tunneled to the enhancement cluster using a tunneling protocol, such as Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) or others.

  • Publication number: 20090201620
Abstract: An electromagnetic field energy recycling circuit recovers energy from collapsing magnetic fields, stores recovered energy as charge on a capacitance, and subsequently re-uses stored recovered energy to establish a magnetic field. Capacitance and inductance are sequentially connected in various configurations to recycle the energy by a discontinuous resonant energy transfer. In a magnetizing configuration, a magnetic field is established by transfer of energy from a capacitance to an inductance. In a recovery configuration, a capacitance is charged with energy recovered from the inductance on collapse of the magnetic field. In a third configuration, recovered energy stored by the capacitance is held until required for establishing a magnetic field. During magnetizing, the capacitance voltage drops by at least 50%: preferably to zero. During recovery, current flowing in the inductance falls to zero. The circuit drives electromagnetic devices, e.g.
