  • Publication number: 20050214969
Abstract: A method is disclosed for forming a chamber in an electronic device, including the steps of preparing an outer surface on a solidified core material, the solidified core material in a depression formed in a substrate. The method further includes establishing a layer on the prepared outer surface of the solidified core material and a portion of the substrate surrounding the depression. The established layer and the substrate define a chamber.

  • Publication number: 20050195464
Abstract: A method and apparatus providing a micro-mirror device configured to increase actuation speed thereof. The micro-mirror device includes a substrate, a mirror, a spring member and at least one adjacent micro-mirror device. The mirror is suspended over the substrate and configured to deflect in response to an actuation force. The spring member is suspended between the substrate and the mirror. Further, the spring member is configured to store energy upon being deflected by the mirror and is configured to release the stored energy to force the mirror to another position. The at least one adjacent micro-mirror device is positioned over the substrate adjacent the mirror and is configured to suspend the spring member.

  • Publication number: 20050195370
Abstract: A transmissive/reflective light engine comprising a plurality of light modulators, at least one light modulator transmitting certain wavelengths of the light to be projected towards a user and reflecting other wavelengths of the light. A light collector and reflector assembly that collects the reflected certain wavelengths of the light, and redirects at least some of the light reflected from the light modulator towards another one of the plurality of light modulators to be projected towards the user.

  • Publication number: 20050122562
Abstract: A method and apparatus providing a micro-mirror device configured to increase a switching frequency thereof. The micro-mirror device includes a substrate with at least one address electrode positioned over the substrate to provide an electrostatic force and includes at least one support member positioned over the substrate and extending upward above the substrate. The micro-mirror device also includes a mirror and a spring member. The mirror is disposed over the at least one address electrode and coupled to the at least one support member. The mirror is configured to deflect toward the substrate in response to the at least one address electrode applying the electrostatic force to the mirror. The spring member is spaced apart between the substrate and the mirror and coupled to the at least one support member. The spring member is operable to deflect separately from the mirror and toward the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20050111069
Abstract: A micro-mirror device includes a micro-mirror and a flexure spring supporting the micro-mirror. The flexure spring is configured to store potential energy during movement of the micro-mirror that is released as kinetic energy to drive movement of the micro-mirror when the micro-mirror is re-oriented.

  • Publication number: 20040202904
Abstract: Representative embodiments provide for a fuel cartridge including a film strip supporting a fuel compound. An electric heater of the fuel cartridge is configured to heat a portion of the film strip, wherein the fuel compound is configured to liberate hydrogen gas from the heated usable portion of the film strip. The fuel cartridge is configured to provide the hydrogen gas to a fuel cell by way of a fluid coupling there between. The fuel cartridge is configured to support the film strip and the electric heater in a substantially self contained arrangement. A method includes supporting a film strip including a fuel compound within a fuel cartridge, heating a portion of the film strip within the fuel cartridge, and providing hydrogen gas liberated by the heating to a fuel cell.
