  • Patent number: 9942260
Abstract: A method securely scans a second web page linked to a first web page being displayed by a browser. The method identifies a target link to a second web page from one or more links contained within a first web page. Prior to receiving a user selection of the target link, the method prefetches content from the second web page and loads the prefetched content from the second web page into a safe cache on the client computing device before receiving the user selection of the target link. The method scans the prefetched content from the second web page for a security threat, within the safe cache, wherein the safe cache is configured to prevent the prefetched content from altering a memory location or storage location external to the safe cache. In response to identifying a security threat within the prefetched content, the method displays a warning to the user.

  • Publication number: 20180022349
Abstract: A vehicle is adapted to sense a condition of use in which a maximum speed control speed is reduced. The condition of use may be indicated by a sensor of the vehicle, or selected according to the kind of terrain across which the vehicle is travelling. Selection of terrain type may be manual or automatic, and may enable a selection of sensors appropriate to the terrain type. • Patent number: 9873430
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle speed control system operable to cause a vehicle to operate in accordance with a target speed value, the system being further operable automatically to control cross-axle locking means of an axle of the vehicle to cause an increase in resistance to relative rotation of wheels of the axle. Thus, the speed control system may be operable automatically to command the cross-axle locking means to increase the resistance to relative rotation of wheels of the axle without a driver being required to intervene to command assumption of this condition.

  • Patent number: 9873436
Abstract: A vehicle control system for at least one vehicle subsystem of a vehicle; the vehicle control system comprising a subsystem controller for initiating control of the or each of the vehicle subsystems in a selected one of a plurality of different subsystem control modes, each of which corresponds to one or more different driving conditions for the vehicle. Evaluation means are provided for evaluating one or more driving condition indicators to determine the extent to which each of the subsystem control modes is appropriate and for providing an output to the subsystem controller that is indicative of the control mode which is most appropriate. This may be an evaluation means for calculating the probability that the or each of the subsystem control modes is appropriate. Automatic control means may be operable in an automatic response mode to select an appropriate one of the subsystem control modes in dependence on the output.

  • Patent number: 9776634
Abstract: A method for operating a speed control system of a vehicle having a plurality of wheels is provided. The method comprises receiving one or more electrical signals representative of vehicle-related information. The method further comprises determining, based on the one or more electrical signals representative of vehicle-related information, that one or more of the wheels of the vehicle have overcome an obstacle or are about to overcome an obstacle and that therefore a reduction in an applied drive torque to one or more of the wheels of the vehicle by a powertrain subsystem (applied drive torque) will be required to maintain the speed of the vehicle at a target set-speed of the speed control system. The method still further comprises automatically commanding the application of a retarding torque to one or more of the wheels of the vehicle to counteract the effect of an overrun condition in the powertrain subsystem from increasing the speed of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20170197619
Abstract: A speed control system for automatically controlling the speed of a vehicle in accordance with a target speed value. The speed control system carries out a method that includes: causing automatically a vehicle to travel at a required speed value at least in part by controlling an amount of torque applied to one or more wheels of a vehicle by a powertrain; causing automatically a change in the required speed value according to a predetermined speed profile thereby to cause a corresponding change in a measured instant speed of a vehicle; and determining automatically when a powertrain torque interruption occurs. The system is configured temporarily to cause a suspension of changes in required speed value according to the predetermined speed profile when it is determined that a powertrain torque interruption occurs.
