  • Patent number: 5746851
Abstract: A tire repair plug that is stretched in an insertion tool and inserted into a bored-out tire injury. The plug includes a cylindrical stem and a conical head disposed at the leading end of the cylindrical stem. A circular transverse opening is located slightly axially interior to the leading end of the cylindrical stem. A bearing surface is located at the bottom of the transverse opening to prevent the plug from sliding off the insertion tool. A transverse slit extends from the transverse opening to a trailing end of the stem and bisects the cylindrical stem into two halves with semi-circular cross-sections. The two halves have adjoining inner walls. Disposed along the outside of the cylindrical stem and along the inner walls is cushion gum sheet. A protective covering is disposed along the outside of the cushion gum sheet until the plug is ready for use.

  • Patent number: 5542840
Abstract: A burner for combusting gas and/or liquid fuel and air in an enclosure includes a burner block of non-combustible material, such as ceramic material, having a central opening therethrough communicating with a combustion zone. The burner block has a plurality of spaced apart recirculation gas passageways paralleled to and spaced from the central opening, each of the recirculation gas passageways having an injection passageway communicating with the block member central opening. Fuel, which may be liquid and/or gas, is injected into said burner block central opening. Venturi action causes furnace gas to be drawn from the cool fringes of the combustion zone through the recirculation gas passageways for passage back into the central opening wherein air and fuel are thoroughly mixed and cooled for combustion within the enclosure. This recirculation system serves to reduce the temperature and oxygen content of the local combustion process to thereby reduce NO.sub.x production.

The block member has a plurality of spaced apart recirculation gas passageways paralleled to and spaced from the central opening, each of the recirculation gas passageways having an injection passageway communicating with the block member central opening. A fuel gas jet is positioned within each of the recirculation gas passageways for injecting fuel gas into the injection passageways to cause the injected fuel gas by Venturi action, to draw furnace gas from the cool fringes of the combustion zone through the recirculation gas passageways for passage back into the central opening after local combustion wherein modified air and fuel gas are thoroughly mixed and cooled for combustion within the enclosure. This recirculation system serves to reduce the temperature and oxygen content of the local combustion process to thereby reduce NO.sub.

  • Patent number: 5381712
Abstract: An infeed system for a gang saw includes at least one loading station laterally displaced from the infeed station of the gang saw, a pivotable skewing tube arrangement operable at the loading station for orienting a two-sided cant to a given orientation relative to a line parallel with the longitudinal horizontal infeed line of the gang saw, thereby to obtain maximum yield from the cant, a lateral transport device operable to transport the skewing tube and the cant from the loading station to a position adjacent the infeed line while maintaining the cant in the desired orientation, and a longitudinal transport device for transporting the properly orientated cant to the gang saw. Preferably, a second loading station is laterally spaced on the opposite side of the infeed line from the first loading station, whereby cants may be selectively supplied to the in-feed station from the large-log and small-log sides of the mill, thus producing maximum production from a single gang saw means.
