Abstract: A method, system, and program for controlling advertising output during hold periods are provided. A context for a call on hold is detected. An advertisement is selected for output during a hold space a hold period of the call according to the context. Output of the advertisement during the hold space is controlled, wherein the advertisement is specified according to the context. The advertisement may include text messages, audio messages, video messages, for advertising a product or service or making an announcement.

Abstract: An artificial fingernail comprises a body having a base portion extending from a rear edge to a tip portion which extends to a front edge. The base portion is configured to cover only the tip portion of a natural nail and has a crescent shape such that the body at the first and second sides extends distal of a portion of the body at the base edge between the first and second sides. In one embodiment, an artificial nail has a substantially transparent base portion through which the tip of a natural nail may be viewed. The artificial fingernail has a substantially opaque tip portion which includes one or more decorative elements. In one embodiment, the artificial nail has a tapered rear edge. A tapered area or extension defines a terminus of the base portion for use in aligning the artificial nail over a natural nail.

Abstract: A method and system for accessing a remote site by a field engineer faced with a machine fault. The remote site includes various expert systems and fault prediction tools to assist the field engineer. In the event the field engineer is unable to diagnose the fault and repair the machine the machine is returned to a repair center, accompanied by an automatically generated return code that identifies the various analysis conducted by the field engineer and the potential fault causes identified during that analysis process.

Abstract: A magnetic flow meter includes a cylindrical vessel within which electrodes are placed directly opposite each other about a magnetically permeable core. In that way, two flow channels are obtained in the vessel. A common magnetic field is applied across both flow channels. The magnetic flow meter is used in conjunction with a controller which monitors amplitude modulated signals representative of applied magnetic field and induced electric field. These amplitude modulated signals are passed to Sigma-Delta modulators, which directly digitise the amplitude modulated AC signals into digital pulses. The controller is capable of monitoring reverse flow through the meter, and to store results until forward flow resumes. Moreover, the controller generates a driving signal for coils which generates a magnetic field, the coil being placed in conjunction with a capacitor which causes resonance. This reduces power consumption by the coil in driving the meter.

Abstract: The fiber optic pressure sensing system includes a sensor housing formed using MEMS processing. The sensor housing has ribs and grooves in both horizontal and vertical directions relative to the surface to allow the membrane to flex in a consistent manner. The flexing of the membrane allows the pedestal to be repeatedly positioned in response to pressure acting on the extension of the sensor head and membrane.

Abstract: A mechanism for transporting a hub is provided. Particularly, a transport mechanism for a pelletizer knife hub is disclosed. The mechanism comprises a clamp for selectively engaging and releasing the shaft of the pelletizer knife hub. The clamp is connected to a support bar. The support bar, in turn, has a hoisting connector for being raised, lowered, and maneuvered by a hoisting system. According to the mechanisms of the present invention, the clamp is rotatable relative to the hoisting system. In one embodiment, a counter-balance to the hub is provided. In another arrangement, the hoisting system supports the hub above the hub for balancing the system.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for time based regulation of use of a telephone line are provided. An identity of a first caller requesting use of a telephone line is detected. Use of the telephone line by the caller is allowed only if a schedule for the telephone line indicates that the identity is currently allowed for the telephone line.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for time based regulation of access to callees are provided. An authenticated identity of a caller placing a call is preferably detected. Then, a communication link from the caller to a callee is only attempted if the authenticated identity of the caller is allowed access to the callee according to a schedule associated with an identity of the callee.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for third party regulation of calls through a line based on a call context are provided. Third party regulation criteria identify individuals who are regulated for calling into or receiving calls from a particular line. For each call received at the line, the identity of the caller is detected. For each call placed from the line, the identity of the callee is detected. Then, the call is regulated according to the relevant third party regulation criteria, such that a third party is enabled to regulate all calls from or to a particular line without being a direct party to the calls.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for third party regulation of calls based on the caller and callee pair to the call. An identity of a caller to a call and an identity of a callee logged in to receive the call are detected. A selection of third party criteria for regulating a call between the caller identity and the callee identity are accessed. A communication channel between the caller and the callee is regulated according to the selection of third party criteria.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for rating parties according to party identities are provided. A second party to a call may rate the first party to the call. For subsequent calls by the first party, the rating by the second party of the first party may be displayed to subsequent called parties. In addition, the ratings by subsequent called parties may be accumulated for the first party. Ratings may be stored according to the identity of the individual representing the first party, according to the identity of the business representing the first party, or according to the context of a call.

Abstract: A document binder employing thermally activated adhesive in the spine of a prefabricated cover is provided that has a chassis with a cavity for receiving a removable cassette holding a plurality of covers with their associated document pages therein in the generally vertical orientation with the spines lowermost. A heated plate is positioned within the chassis for engaging said spines carried by a loaded cassette in the operative position. Jogger means are provided for jogging the covers during or following a heating cycle, or both. Cassettes for use in the document binder are a particular feature.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for distributing billing for a call between a caller and a callee are provided. Responsive to receiving a call request, a caller billing plan for an authenticated identity of a caller making the call request and a callee billing plan for an authenticated identity of a callee answering the call request are identified and loaded for the call request. Responsive to receiving a request for a billable service with the call request, distributing a cost of the billable service among the caller billing plan and the callee billing plan, such that both the caller and the callee pay for a benefit received from the billable service.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for compensating recipients of calls are provided. A request to bill a caller a tariff for a call is initiated, wherein the caller originates the call. The caller is prompted to accept payment of the tariff to receive access to a destination line during the call. Responsive to negotiating for the payment of the tariff from the caller, the caller is connected with the destination line, such that the caller pays for access to the destination line. In particular, the caller may pay for access to a particular callee at the destination line.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for billing for service provided to destination device according to the calling plan of the individual receiving the call. An authenticated identity for a callee answering a call placed to a destination device is received at an intermediary device. The intermediary device then accesses a billing plan for the authenticated identity of the callee and loads the billing plan for specifying charges for the call, such that telephone service billed to the callee is accessible at multiple destination devices.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for identifying relevant scheduling events for a call. When a call is received at a service provider, the service provider initiates a call context request. A context inference service handling the call context request accesses a schedule of at least one party to the call. Then, the services designates a context for the call indicating at least one scheduled event from the schedule that is relevant to the call. A schedule may be accessed from a telephony device, a data storage system within a trusted telephone network, or a data storage system accessible via a network outside a trusted telephone network.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for billing for service provided to an origin device according to the current caller billing plan. A trusted telephone network, including at least one service provider, receives a request for service from an origin device. The origin device is associated with a line number to be billed for according to a line subscriber billing plan. An identity of a caller requesting the service from the origin device is authenticated. Then, a billing plan associated with the authenticated caller identity is accessed and utilized to replace or supplement the line subscriber billing plan, such that billing for service provided at an origin device is specified according to the caller currently utilizing the origin device.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for identifying a context for a call are provided. Multiple context clues for a call are detected from a line number, a line subscriber profile, a caller profile, and other parameters associated with the call. A context for the call is identified from the context clues, such that at least one party to the call is enabled to receive the context of the call. Context for the call preferably includes at least one of who is placing a call, who is receiving a call, identities of devices utilized for the call, locations of those devices, the path of line number numbers accessed for a call, a billing plan for the call, and a subject matter of the call.
