Abstract: In one embodiment, a mapping/translation technique is provided for generating an association between an observed network address and one or more attributes that are not directly observed. A network address is observed that is associated with a source device. A first attribute is determined, the first attribute being a directly observed attribute. The first attribute is mapped to a second attribute based on at least a predefined spatial, temporal, or identity-related correspondence between the first attribute and the second attribute, wherein the second attribute was not directly observed in connection with the network address. An association is generated between the second attribute and the network address. A record that maintains the association between the second attribute and the network address is stored.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a processing technique is provided that utilizes multiple network address observations. One or more records are obtained that maintain network address observations, each network address observation associating one or more attributes with a network address observed by one or more source devices. Multiple network addresses from the network address observations are clustered into one or more discrete groups of network addresses based on a clustering criteria. For a selected group of network addresses, an association is formed associating one or more refined attributes derived from the selected group with an individual network address that is a member of the selected group.

Abstract: A newsfeed generation system generates feeds of content items related to specific topics. The newsfeed generation system receives content items from one or more content sources, and matches the content items to topics based on a measure of affinity of each content item for one or more objects in a database that are associated with various topics. Content items associated with an object associated with a topic are included in a feed of content items associated with the topic.

Abstract: The invention features a method of estimating an expected error of a position estimate for use in a WLAN positioning system that estimates the position of a WLAN-enabled device. The WLAN-enabled device receives signals transmitted by a WLAN access point in range of the WLAN-enabled device. The method estimates the position of the WLAN-enabled device based on the received signals from the WLAN access point in range of the WLAN enabled device. The method also estimates an expected error of the position estimate based on characteristics of the WLAN access point in range of the WLAN enabled device, wherein the expected error predicts a relative accuracy of the position estimate.

The systems and methods may be carried out by a suitable service provider. A healthcare claim transaction received from a healthcare provider computer may be routed to a claims processor computer. A determination may be made that the healthcare claim transaction has not been approved as a result of a host processor error associated with the claims processor computer. Based at least in part on the determination, the healthcare claim transaction may be resubmitted to the claims processor computer.

Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating healthcare claim transactions for Medicare eligibility are described. A healthcare claim transaction designating a payor other than a Medicare Part B payor may be received from a healthcare provider computer, and a product or service associated with the transaction may be identified as a product or service that is eligible for Medicare Part B coverage. Based at least in part on the identification, a determination may be made as to whether a patient associated with the transaction is eligible for Medicare Part B coverage. The transaction may be routed to a claims processor computer if it is determined that the patient is not eligible for Medicare Part B coverage. However, if it is determined that the patient is eligible for Medicare Part B coverage, then a message indicating that the transaction is rejected may be communicated to the healthcare provider computer.

Abstract: A source of optical supercontinuum radiation comprises a microstructured optical fibre and a pump laser adapted to generate lasing radiation at a pump wavelength, the microstructured optical fibre comprising a core region and a cladding region which surrounds the core region; the core of the microstructured fibre comprising a first refractive index and the cladding region comprising an effective refractive index such that the ?-value is greater than 0.03; the fibre comprising a zero dispersion wavelength within ±200 nm of said pump wavelength; wherein the fibre can support a plurality of modes at said pump wavelength; and wherein the pump laser is adapted to launch said lasing radiation at said pump wavelength into said core region of said microstructured optical fibre to excite the fundamental mode of the fibre. Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring controlled substance distribution include receiving a healthcare transaction at a service provider computer. The healthcare transaction may be parsed to determine the healthcare provider submitting the healthcare transaction, the drug being prescribed as part of the healthcare transaction and the class of controlled substance to which the drug being prescribed belongs. Counters associated with total scripts prescribed by the healthcare provider and the class of controlled substance may be incremented upward in view of the healthcare transaction being approved by a claims processor. A current percentage of the class of controlled substances being prescribed can be calculated for the healthcare provider and compared to a threshold percentage for the particular class of controlled substance. If the current percentage violates the threshold percentage, a notification can be sent to a corporate level or management level for the healthcare provider for review.

A location-based services system uses WiFi-enabled devices to monitor WiFi access points in a target area to indicate whether a WiFi access point has moved relative to its previously recorded location. A WiFi-enabled device communicates with WiFi access points within range of the WiFi-enabled device so that observed WiFi access points identify themselves; A reference database is accessed to obtain information specifying a recorded location for each observed WiFi access point in the target area. The recorded location information is used for each of the observed WiFi access points in conjunction with predefined rules to infer whether an observed WiFi access point has moved relative to its recorded location. The reference database is informed of the identity of any observed WiFi access point that is inferred to have moved.

A method of estimating demographic information associated with a user of a mobile device and/or a location while preserving the privacy of the user based at least in part on a location estimate of the mobile device of the user includes receiving an estimated geographical location of the mobile device of the user and receiving a time at which the mobile device was at the estimated geographical location. The method includes assigning substitute identifiers for the geographical location and the time at which the mobile device was at the estimated geographical location. The method includes associating the geographical areas substitute identifiers with demographic information and estimating demographic information associated with the user of the mobile device based on the substitute identifiers and based on the demographic information associated with substitute identifiers.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for overriding rejections of healthcare claim transactions. A healthcare claim transaction is received by a service provider from a healthcare provider computer and at least one edit is performed on the healthcare claim transaction. A rejection for the healthcare claim transaction is identified based at least in part on the at least one edit, and a message comprising an indication of the rejection is communicated to the healthcare provider computer. A reason for overriding the edit is received at an edit override web server from the healthcare provider computer, and override information for the rejection is generated based at least in part on the receipt of the override reason. The healthcare claim transaction is then reprocessed, and the generate override information is utilized to suppress the at least one edit during the reprocessing of the healthcare claim transaction.

A healthcare claim transaction associated with a product requested by a customer may be received from a healthcare provider computer. Based at least in part upon a classification of the product, the denied claim response may be converted to an approved claim response, and the approved claim response may be communicated to the healthcare provider computer. Abstract: Systems and methods for the coordination of benefits in healthcare claim transactions are provided. A healthcare claim request including information associated with a plurality of prescription claims for a single healthcare transaction may be received from a healthcare provider computer and identified as a bundled healthcare claim request. A primary claim request for the healthcare transaction may be generated and communicated to a first claims processor computer for adjudication, and a first adjudicated reply may be received from the first claims processor computer. Based at least in part on the received first adjudicated reply, a secondary claim request for the healthcare transaction may be generated and communicated to a second claims processor computer for adjudication. A second adjudicated reply may be received from the second claims processor, and information associated with the first adjudicated reply and the second adjudicated reply may be communicated to the healthcare provider computer.
