  • Publication number: 20170250921
Abstract: Methods and systems for a networked storage environment are provided. When a request for placing a workload for using a networked storage system is received, a management console determines a plurality of subset of resources for responding to the workload, where each subset of resources includes at least two different but related resource types that can be used for processing the workload. A penalty index for each subset of resources is determined, where the penalty index of each resource is based on a supply parameter that indicates a maximum capability of the resource, a threshold value that indicates a capability level beyond which no load is added to the resource and a criticality factor that indicates an importance of each resource to the networked storage system. The workload is then assigned to a subset of resources with the least penalty index.

  • Patent number: 9632811
Abstract: A virtual instance of a hardware device is generated from device profile model data. The virtual instance of the hardware device simulates operation of the hardware device. The simulated operation includes interacting with a software service over a network connection by generating, at the virtual instance, message data to push to a host of the software service over the network connection, receiving request data from the software service over the network connection, and generating a simulated response to the request data. The simulated operation further includes sending the simulated response from the virtual instance to the host over the network connection and modeling a physical effect measured by the hardware device during the interaction with the software service. Data sent by the virtual instance during the interaction is based on the modeled physical effect.

  • Patent number: 9623214
Abstract: A trans-endoscopic hydraulic balloon dilation apparatus includes a fluid reservoir containing a hydraulic fluid. A shaft has a lumen in fluid communication with a leading end of the fluid reservoir. A balloon is mounted on the shaft and an opening in the shaft enables hydraulic fluid to flow through the opening into or from the balloon. A piston secured to a leading end of a piston rod is slideably positioned within a lumen of the fluid reservoir. A hub secured to a trailing end of the fluid reservoir is centrally apertured to accommodate the piston rod so that a trailing end of the piston rod is external to the fluid reservoir. Displacement of the piston rod in a trailing-to-leading direction causes expansion of the balloon. Displacement of the piston rod in a leading-to-trailing direction causes deflation of the balloon. The piston can be locked into any position.

  • Publication number: 20170060781
Abstract: A technique that reduces the startup time of a processing system authenticates a proxy for an image stored in tracked memory instead of authenticating the image stored in the tracked memory. A controller generates an alteration log authentication code based on an alteration log that is updated prior to programming the image stored in tracked memory. The controller records an alteration log authentication code in secure memory. The alteration log is indirectly related to a most recent image stored in the tracked memory. Authentication of the image of the alteration log is used as a proxy for authentication of the image stored in tracked memory, which is performed only when the tracked memory is modified. Use of the contents of the alteration log as a proxy for the contents of tracked memory accelerates the startup time of the system.
