  • Publication number: 20140206092
Abstract: In a first aspect, the present invention relates to a method of determining assembly, homogeneity and/or thermodynamic stability of biological macromolecular complexes. In particular, the method allows determining maximum stability of said complexes based on fluorescence changes at an appropriate wavelength as a function of temperature whereby said fluorescence changes reflect the status of assembly, homogeneity and/or thermodynamic stability of the biological macromolecular complexes. Said method is based on identifying two state and multistate unfolding fluorescence curves as a function of temperature by fitting said curves according to a multistate unfolding model. In addition, a computer program and a computer program storage medium as well as an apparatus and a system is provided for determining the assembly, homogeneity and/or thermodynamic stability of biological macromolecular complexes.

  • Publication number: 20140186176
Abstract: A method of determining a degree of yaw error of a wind turbine is provided. The method includes obtaining wind pressure measurement values from in front of the rotor plane, which wind pressure measurement values exhibit a periodic nature related to a rotation of a spinner of the wind turbine, performing a signal processing step to process the wind pressure measurement values to determine a phase offset of the wind pressure measurement values relative to an angular reference, and deriving a yaw error angle from the phase offset. A method of establishing a relationship between a phase offset of wind pressure measurement values and a degree of yaw error of a wind turbine, a yaw error determination unit, and a wind turbine are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8765009
Abstract: A process for preparing nitric acid by: catalytically oxidizing ammonia, to obtain a gas mixture containing NO and O2; cooling and condensing the gas mixture, thereby further oxidizing NO with O2, to obtain a gas stream containing NO2/N2O4 and an aqueous solution containing nitric acid; and countercurrently absorbing the NO2/N2O4 from the gas stream in an absorber with process water (H2O), to obtain nitric acid and an NOx-containing absorber offgas, wherein the water content of the nitric acid is regulated to a concentration in the range from 50 to 77.8% by weight and the NOx content of the absorber offgas to a concentration in the range from 20 to 500 ppm, by continuously measuring the water content of the process air supplied to the catalytic gas phase oxidation and, as a function of this, adjusting the amount of process water (Q-H2O) fed to the absorber.

  • Publication number: 20140174187
Abstract: The present invention relates to system for measuring pressure and temperature based on change in the characteristic properties of a medium for ultrasound under the effect of pressure and temperature. The invention is based on two waveguides where geometry is adapted to the medium's characteristic properties for ultrasound such that only planar pressure waves are generated in the waveguides. The first of the waveguides is arranged for measuring temperature due to thermal expansion of the medium, where the medium is pressure-compensated by means of an internal compensator to prevent thermal pressure accumulation, and where measuring temperature is based on the medium's specific known characteristic data for ultrasound under the effect of temperature under constant pressure.

  • Patent number: 7875150
Abstract: A new class of polymeric additives for papermaking is disclosed as well as a process for their manufacture, a method for their use and a paper sheet containing the addition. The additives can be used in paper manufacture as agents for improving retention, paper machine operation and the strength properties of the product. The additives are manufactured from a microbial biomass. The biomass that contains acetyl amino groups or other amides is chemically modified by hydrolysis of the amides to form primary amino groups. Under neutral or acidic conditions these primary amines become cationic, which assures a good absorption of the additive onto fibres and fines of pulp that is generally of anionic nature.
