  • Patent number: 10028528
Abstract: An exhalation smoke filter mask includes an open first end and a perforated second end enclosing a filter assembly. The filter assembly includes a main filter assembly, having at least a carbon filter, and a masking filter assembly, having at least a fabric member infused with volatilizing odorous oils. Exhalation of smoke into the open first end effects filtering of the smoke by action of the carbon filter and malodors are masked by volatilization of odorous oils vented when breath is forced through the filter assembly. Thus secondhand smoke is mitigated, malodors are eliminated, and exhalations of smoke are concealable from bystanders and passersby.

  • Patent number: 10028842
Abstract: An implant for therapeutically separating bones of a joint has two endplates each having an opening through the endplate, and at least one ramped surface on a side opposite a bone engaging side. A frame is slideably connected to the endplates to enable the endplates to move relative to each other at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the implant, in sliding connection with the frame. An actuator screw is rotatably connected to the frame. A carriage forms an open area aligned with the openings in the endplates. The openings in the endplates pass through the carriage to form an unimpeded passage from bone to bone of the joint. The carriage has ramps which mate with the ramped surfaces of the endplates, wherein when the carriage is moved by rotation of the actuator screw, the endplates move closer or farther apart.

  • Patent number: 10032000
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for processing and/or analyzing nucleic acid sequencing data comprises receiving a first data input and a second data input. The first data input comprises untargeted sequencing data generated from a first nucleic acid sample obtained from a subject. The second data input comprises target-specific sequencing data generated from a second nucleic acid sample obtained from the subject. Next, with the aid of a computer processor, the first data input and the second data input are combined to produce a combined data set. Next, an output derived from the combined data set is generated. The output is indicative of the presence or absence of one or more polymorphisms of the first nucleic acid sample and/or the second nucleic acid sample.

  • Patent number: 10031669
Abstract: A computing device includes an interface configured to interface and communicate with a dispersed storage network (DSN), a memory that stores operational instructions, and a processing module operably coupled to the interface and memory such that the processing module, when operable within the computing device based on the operational instructions, is configured to perform various operations. The computing device determines to facilitate migration of encoded data slices (EDSs) from a first storage unit (SU) pool to a second SU pool and identifies storage resources associated with the EDSs to be migrated. The computing device then generates a migration schedule for the EDSs based on performance information associated with storage resources and facilitates the migration of the plurality of EDSs based on the migration schedule using the storage resources based on an aggression factor and adapts the aggression factor as deemed necessary based on the performance information.

  • Patent number: 10033810
Abstract: Embodiments for an approach to resource optimization during consistency group formation associated with a global mirror environment is provided. The approach detects when a primary volume associated with the consistency group has completed transmitting its out-of-sync (OOS) data towards its associated secondary volume. A command is sent to create a next consistency group sidefile so further writes can be sent to the sidefile rather than queueing at the primary volume. The approach repeats this process for each primary volume associated with the global mirror environment until all primary volumes are complete. Commands are sent to disable writes to the associated sidefiles and to merge the data stored in the sidefiles into normal cache as the next consistency group becomes the current consistency group.

  • Patent number: 10030210
Abstract: The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a mixture of a water-miscible silicone material and a water-miscible lubricant. The mixture can be applied in relatively low amounts, to provide thin, substantially non-dripping lubricating films. In contrast to dilute aqueous lubricants, the lubricants of the invention provide drier lubrication of the conveyors and containers, a cleaner conveyor line and reduced lubricant usage, thereby reducing waste, cleanup and disposal problems.
