Patent number: 6831054Abstract: The dimensionally stable alkaline solid block warewashing detergent uses an E-form binder forming a solid comprising a sodium carbonate source of alkalinity, a sequestrant, a surfactant package and other optional material. The solid block is dimensionally stable and highly effective in removing soil from the surfaces of dishware in the institutional and industrial environment. The E-form hydrate comprises an organic phosphonate and a hydrated carbonate.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2003Date of Patent: December 14, 2004Assignee: Ecolab Inc.Inventors: Steven E. Lentsch, Keith E. Patent number: 6821351Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions, kits and processes for the brightening of metal surfaces by the application of the chemical compositions. These compositions act to release hydrofluoric acid as a brightening agent. The solutions are preferably mixed during application of the brightening composition to a metal surface by mixing the solutions immediately prior to or even during application of the solution. This can be readily accomplished by mixing two solutions, one having a fluoride source and the other having a strong acid to release hydrofluoric acid from the fluoride source, the mixing occurring immediately before spray application, during spraying, or immediately after spraying of the two solutions. Mixing may be done on-site, which means that mixing is performed at the site of use, usually on the same day of use or even within a few (less than 10) minutes of use.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2003Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Ecolab Inc.Inventors: Guang-jong Jason Wei, David Daniel McSherry, Mark D. Patent number: 6806240Abstract: Thermally formed thermoplastic articles can be protected from stress cracking in the presence of stress cracking promoting compounds by forming a shaped article comprising a thermoplastic and a liquid hydrocarbon oil composition. We have found that the liquid hydrocarbon oil composition prevents the stress cracking promoting materials from interacting with the polymeric structure of the stressed container to prevent or inhibit stress cracking in such materials. The methods and compositions of the invention are particularly useful in preventing stress cracking in polyethylene terephthalate beverage containers during bottling operations during which the bottle in contacted with aqueous and non-aqueous materials such as cleaners and lubricants that can interact with the polyester to cause stress cracking particularly in the container base.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2002Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: Ecolab Inc.Inventors: Kimberly L. P. Hei, Minyu Li, Keith Darrell Lokkesmoe, Joy G. Herdt, Guang-Jong Jason Wei, Michael E. Besse

Publication number: 20040184071Abstract: A system and method that uses a pluggable preprocessor for monitoring a running job data stream that looks for header information to determine the appropriate queue for the job data stream. The data stream is then routed to the appropriate queue. The header information typically comprises a job name, an owner, and routing information. Thus, a print job will appear in the appropriate queue immediately while it is still being spooled. A job scheduler can trigger processing of the job when the processor is available and the job is ready for processing. This facilitates the handling of many jobs simultaneously segregated into their respective priority queues as soon as the clients send the jobs. Processing may then be serialized based on the processor load and job scheduling logic.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2003Publication date: September 23, 2004Inventors: Man M. Garg, Jason Wei

Publication number: 20040106535Abstract: A solid functional material comprises a functional agent such as a cleaning composition, a sanitizing agent, where a rinse agent, etc. in a solid block format. The solid block is formed by a binding agent that forms the active ingredients into a solid block. The binding agent comprises a phosphonate or amino acetate sequestrant, a carbonate salt and water in an E-Form hydrate. These materials at a specific mole ratio form a novel binding agent that can form functional materials into a solid matrix form.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2003Publication date: June 3, 2004Applicant: Ecolab Inc.Inventors: G. Publication number: 20030175983Abstract: A system for measuring and controlling the concentration of a chemical agent in a solution has a reaction cell for receiving a sample, a titrant dropper for releasing one or more drops of titrant into the sample, a first photosensor for sensing disruptions of light for every drop of titrant released, and a controller that communicates with the photosensor and computes the concentration of the chemical agent based on the number of disruptions of light at the photosensor. The present invention also includes a method for sensing and controlling the concentration of a chemical agent in a solution. The method includes having a sample containing the chemical agent, triggering the release of a number of drops of titrant into the sample, detecting the number of drops released into the sample, and computing the concentration of the chemical agent in the sample based on the number of drops of titrant released into the sample.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2002Publication date: September 18, 2003Applicant: Ecolab, Inc.Inventors: Guang-jong Jason Wei, Tim Gutzmann, Paul Schacht, Tom Batcher

Patent number: 6554005Abstract: A method for cleaning polyethylene terephthalate containers including contacting the PET container with an alkaline wash solution having a temperature ranging of less than about 60° C. is disclosed. The alkaline wash solution is formulated from a first concentrate, a second concentrate, an alkalinity source, and a balance of water. The first concentrate preferably has a first nonionic surfactant, a first builder, and acid in an amount effective to provide a phase stable solution. The second concentrate preferably has a second nonionic surfactant and a second builder. The first and second concentrate are present in the wash solution in a concentration ranging from about 0.3 wt. % to 2.0 wt. %. Preferably, the first nonionic surfactant has a cloud point ranging from about 5° C. to 60° C.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2000Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Ecolab Inc.Inventors: Bruce R.
