Publication number: 20230285701Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system and method for use of acoustic reflectometry information in ventilation devices. The system and method includes a speaker to emit sound waves into an intubated endotracheal tube (“ETT”) and a microphone to detect returning acoustic reflections. In addition, the system and method includes a reflectometry device in communication with a ventilation device for analyzing timings and amplitudes of the returning acoustic reflections to determine a size of a passageway around an ETT tip, location and size of ETT obstructions, and relative movement of the ETT tip within a trachea. The reflectometry device is also configured to determine a resistance parameter representative of resistance to actual flow of air through the ETT based upon a function of the diameter of the ETT, length of the ETT, and percent obstruction of the ETT, where the resistance parameter is used to calculate the tracheal pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2023Publication date: September 14, 2023Applicant: Covidien LPInventors: Jeffrey P. Publication number: 20230237140Abstract: Aspects described herein may provide detection of a physical characteristic of a credential, thereby allowing for authentication of the credential. According to some aspects, these and other benefits may be achieved by detecting the physical characteristic with the credential. An image of a credential may be received. An optical characteristic of a secure feature of the credential may be determined. An expected optical characteristic of the secure feature may be determined based on known properties of the secure feature. Patent number: 11674090Abstract: Processes involving the use of a dry sorbent injection (DSI) unit or slurry reagent injection (SRI) unit to remove sulfur compounds form flue gas are described. Flue gas from an FCC regenerator, for example, is used to make superheated steam and saturated steam. The flue gas is then sent to a DSI unit to remove the sulfur compounds, and then to an economizer (or heat exchanger) to heat boiler feed water or combustion air. Because the temperature is not reduced as much as with a wet scrubber process, additional energy can be recovered in the economizer.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2021Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Jan De Ren, William J. Whyman, Richard A. Johnson, II, Jeffrey M. Knight, Anil Nivrutti Pachpande, Andrew J. Craig

Patent number: 11674911Abstract: In an embodiment, a system for wear monitoring, includes a wear surface, a metallic reflector embedded in the wear surface, a radio-wave transmitter, and a radio-wave receiver. The metallic reflector reflects radio waves transmitted by the radio-wave transmitter for detection by the radio wave receiver. Attenuation of the radio waves between transmission by the radio-wave transmitter and detection by the radio-wave receiver indicates a degree of wear of the wear surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2021Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: REI, Inc.Inventors: Daniel J. Publication number: 20230177126Abstract: In some implementations, a mobile device may receive, from a first sensor of the mobile device, measurements indicating a location of the mobile device. The mobile device may further receive, from a second sensor of the mobile device, measurements associated with a grip of the user on the mobile device. Accordingly, the mobile device may input indicators of the location and the grip to a model that outputs an indication associated with suspicious activity. The mobile device may present, while the user is viewing a screen associated with an application using the model, one or more prompts. The mobile device may therefore determine whether to allow the user to continue viewing the screen based on one or more responses to the one or more prompts.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2021Publication date: June 8, 2023Inventors: Jeffrey Carlyle WIEKER, Clayton JOHNSON

Publication number: 20230175866Abstract: An electronics system has a board with a thermal interface having an exposed surface. A thermoelectric device is placed against the thermal interface to heat the board. Heat transfers through the board from a first region where the thermal interface is located to a second region where an electronics device is mounted. The electronics device has a temperature sensor that detects the temperature of the electronics device. The temperature of the electronics device is used to calibrate an accelerometer and a gyroscope in the electronics device. Calibration data includes a temperature and a corresponding acceleration offset and a corresponding angle offset. A field computer simultaneously senses a temperature, an acceleration and an angle from the temperature sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope and adjusts the measured data with the offset data at the same temperature. The field computer provides corrected data to a controlled system.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2023Publication date: June 8, 2023Applicant: Magic Leap, Inc.Inventors: Cuthbert Martindale ALLEN, Michael Derek ABBOTT, Igor LEVINSKY, Jeffrey JOHNSON, Shimon GOLDSTEIN, Aaron Mark SCHUELKE

Publication number: 20220321561Abstract: A communal computing device, such as an interactive digital whiteboard, can become unlocked if a user is near the device. The communal computing device may use a sensor such as a camera to capture images of a person and obtain an identifier from a personal device such as a smartphone. A cloud-based provider that is trusted by both the communal computing device and the personal device may associate both the image and the identifier of the personal device with the same user identity. Obtaining the user identity from multiple, different sources provides a secure technique for the communal computing device to recognize a user without the user directly interacting with the communal computing device. If the sensor no longer detects the user or the personal device is no longer detected, then the communal computing device may log off the user. The personal device may be used to confirm log off.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2022Publication date: October 6, 2022Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Raju JAIN, Dipesh BHATTARAI, Peter Gregory DAVIS, Jeffrey JOHNSON, Liang ZHANG, Kiran KUMAR
