Abstract: The present invention relates to a polarization filter for ophthalmic lenses. The polarization filter comprises a mesogen layer coated onto a retardation film, either directly or through an adhesive layer. The present invention further discloses that the polarization filter formed by employing a thin film or sheet, having a defined level of retardation between the light source and the mesogen layer, for example, a cholesteric mesogen layer, the multilayered laminate structure demonstrates linear polarization of the light transmitted through the mesogen laminate structure, and, hence, can be used in ophthalmic lenses, e.g. spectacle or eyeglass lenses. The polarization filter enhances the performance by allowing transmission of the polarization filter closer to the theoretical maximum transmission.

Navigable instrumentation, which are capable of being navigated by a surgeon using the surgical robot system, and navigation software allow for the navigated placement of interbody fusion devices or other surgical devices. The interbody implant navigation may involve navigation of access instruments (e.g., dilators, retractors, ports), disc preparation instruments, trials, and inserters.

For example, a method may include: the method comprising: storing a first device fingerprint in association with a token representing a primary account number, the first device fingerprint being derived from a device attribute of a user device and behavioral biometric data derived from a behavioral pattern of a user in using the user device; receiving an authentication request indicative of the token and a second device fingerprint generated by a customer device associated with a customer of a merchant, the authentication request being associated with a transaction between the merchant and a customer using the token; identifying the stored first device fingerprint based on the token indicated by the authentication request; and determining whether the second device fingerprint matches the stored first device fingerprint.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for providing personalized financing information and, more particularly, systems and methods for providing personalized financing information via a dealership website using an API associated with a financial service provider. In one embodiment, a system includes memory hardware storing instructions that configure processing hardware to receive a loan request for a buyer via a real-time API that includes at least buyer identification and financial information and information associated at least one inventory item presented on a dealership website. The system may also determine financing information comprising prospective financing terms for the at least one item based on at least the loan request. The server may also provide, to the dealership server via the real-time API, the determined financing information for presentation on the dealership website, including prospective financing terms information corresponding to each of the at least one item.

Abstract: Methods and systems for operating a tandem axle that includes two electric machine propulsion sources are described. In one example, a controller determines a presence or absence of a beat signal that may be generated via rotating components of the tandem axle. Operation of the tandem axle may be adjusted in response to detection of the beat signal.

Abstract: A safety device for a drug delivery system includes a first member including a first arm having first and second ends and a length extending therebetween and a second member including a second arm having first and second ends and a length extending therebetween. The second end of the first member defines a first wall region. The first member further includes a first guard positioned at or near the second end thereof. The second member is rotatably coupled with the first member, and the second end thereof defines a second wall region and a needle guide member. The second member further includes a second guard positioned at or near the second end thereof. Upon rotatably positioning the second end of the first member near or adjacent to the second end of the second member, the first and second wall regions cooperate to define a container connector receptacle and the first and second guards cooperate to define a hand guard.

A coupler assembly is designed to couple the curved plate assembly to allow angular orientation or movement of the curved plate assembly to be adjusted relative to the handle member. A force transducer converts the weight or pressure of a material on the curved plate assembly into an electrical signal designed to communicate the weight or pressure of a material such as snow, sand, dirt, or ice. A control module in a housing mounted on the elongate handle is designed to receive electrical signals from the force transducer assembly or a load cell assembly. A display assembly is coupled to the electrical scale assembly and control module.

Abstract: A method for conserving resources in a distributed system includes receiving an event-criteria list from a resource controller. The event-criteria list includes one or more events watched by the resource controller and the resource controller controls at least one target resource and is configured to respond to events from the event-criteria list that occur. The method also includes determining whether the resource controller is idle. When the resource controller is idle, the method includes terminating the resource controller, determining whether any event from the event-criteria list occurs after terminating the resource controller, and, when at least one event from the event-criteria list occurs after terminating the resource controller, recreating the resource controller.

Abstract: Structures for a heterojunction bipolar transistor and methods of forming a structure for a heterojunction bipolar transistor. The structure comprises an emitter, a collector including a first section, a second section, and a third section positioned in a first direction between the first section and the second section, and an intrinsic base disposed in a second direction between the emitter and the third section of the collector. The structure further comprises a stress layer including a section positioned to overlap with the emitter, the intrinsic base, and the collector. Abstract: A pen cap for a medication delivery pen includes a piston-style detector mechanism. The piston-style detector mechanism includes at least an inner shell having first open end through which the medication delivery pen can be inserted, a second end opposite the first end, a sidewall defined by an outer surface and an opposing inner surface, and a passageway extending from the outer surface to the inner surface. The sidewall extends between the first end and the second end thereby defining a pen-receiving cavity there between. The piston-style detector mechanism further includes at least one switch and a translatable shaft at least partially disposed in the passage. Optionally, the non-locking hole has a shroud that forms an arc or portion of a cylinder over the hole. A plate driver having a recess that holds the plate is used to insert the plate into the bone.

The section of the first semiconductor layer and the doped region have a first conductivity type, and the second semiconductor layer comprises silicon-germanium having a second conductivity type opposite to the first conductivity type, and the third semiconductor layer has the second conductivity type. The doped region contains a higher concentration of a dopant of the first conductivity type than the section of the first semiconductor layer. The second semiconductor layer abuts the first section of the first semiconductor layer along an interface, and the doped region is positioned adjacent to the interface.

Abstract: A communal computing device, such as an interactive digital whiteboard, can become unlocked if a user is near the device. The communal computing device may use a sensor such as a camera to capture images of a person and obtain an identifier from a personal device such as a smartphone. A cloud-based provider that is trusted by both the communal computing device and the personal device may associate both the image and the identifier of the personal device with the same user identity. Obtaining the user identity from multiple, different sources provides a secure technique for the communal computing device to recognize a user without the user directly interacting with the communal computing device. If the sensor no longer detects the user or the personal device is no longer detected, then the communal computing device may log off the user. The personal device may be used to confirm log off.

Abstract: A timer circuit for an X-ray imaging system having an X-ray generator used to generate images of a patient. The circuit includes a current sensor connected between a main power system and a circuit interrupter, wherein the circuit interrupter is also connected to the X-ray generator. The circuit also includes a timing device coupled between the current sensor and a control computer. The timing device is triggered when a current level detected by the current sensor exceeds an idle current level wherein X-rays are not generated by the X-ray generator. The timing device then measures a time period that the idle current level is exceeded. When the measured time period exceeds a predetermined time period by 10%, the circuit interrupter is activated to turn off current flow to the X-ray generator.
