  • Publication number: 20190059076
Abstract: Embodiments include transceivers, methods and computer programs for radio resource distribution. In a mobile communication system a first transceiver determines information on previously allocated but non-required radio resources and a second transceiver uses these non-required radio resources for transmitting own data. A base station transceiver 300 allocates a group of radio resources to a first transceiver and receives data on at least a part of radio resources allocated to the first transceiver from a second transceiver.

  • Patent number: 9204456
Abstract: A method of controlling a load at a wireless communication base station includes determining an indication of a maximum path loss between the base station and any high speed data users currently in a cell served by the base station. A target loading limit for the cell is set based upon the determined indication of the maximum path loss. In disclosed examples, the indication of the maximum path loss corresponds to a distance between a high speed user and a base station. Another factor considered in disclosed examples includes the data rate of such a high speed user.

  • Patent number: 9204403
Abstract: An exemplary method of controlling communications that may include high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) traffic includes setting a first power limit below an allowable power limit. A second power limit is set that is below the first power limit. A determination is made whether there is any HSDPA traffic. The first power limit is selected for non-HSDPA traffic when there is no HSDPA traffic. The second power limit is selected for non-HSDPA traffic when there is HSDPA traffic.

  • Patent number: 8181080
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting of data frames from user equipment to a base station in a wireless telecommunication network. The method comprises an error control step adapted to retransmit the data frame from the user equipment to the base station, if the received data frame contains errors or if no acknowledge message is received by the user equipment within a predetermined amount of time. The method further comprises a transmission power control step adapted to control a transmission power of the data frames in such a way that the number of retransmissions corresponds to a predetermined number of target retransmission. The number of target retransmission is adapted depending on the traffic load and/or the number of users connected to the base station.

  • Patent number: 8145233
Abstract: Methods of providing power overload control in a communication system having a least one base station serving one or more users of at least one cell are described which may avoid an overload condition in the system. In one aspect, a target signal-to-interference ratio (SIRtarget) may be controlled for inner loop power control implemented by the base station, so as to maintain the loading of the communication system below an overload condition. In another aspect, a target block error rate (BLERtarget) may be controlled for outer loop power control implemented by the base station, so as to maintain the loading of communication system below an overload condition.

  • Patent number: 8005059
Abstract: Embodiments provided include a method for transmitting a packet to a receiver over primary and supplemental channels in a wireless communication network. Indications of a primary code and a set of N supplemental codes assigned to the receiver are communicated over a control channel. When it is determined that a packet should be transmitted over a supplemental channel, a first portion of the packet and a supplemental channel indicator are transmitted over a same single packet transmission time interval on the primary channel and a second portion of the packet is transmitted over the same single packet transmission time interval on the supplemental channel corresponding to the supplemental channel indicator. The supplemental channel uses an assigned specific supplemental code belonging to the set of N supplemental codes assigned to the receiver. When the packet should not be transmitted over a supplemental channel, the packet is transmitted over the primary channel.

  • Patent number: 7940721
Abstract: An exemplary method of controlling communications that may include enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) traffic includes setting a total uplink power limit below an allowable power limit. A minimum amount of uplink resources is allocated to each user requesting E-DCH service on an individual user basis such that a cumulative E-DCH power allocation satisfies a selected minimum E-DCH power allocation threshold. A determination whether to grant a non-E-DCH service request is made based upon a relationship between the current total uplink power and the total uplink power limit and a relationship between the selected minimum E-DCH power allocation threshold and a current cumulative E-DCH power.

  • Patent number: 7920517
Abstract: A technique is disclosed for determining values of different portions of a total uplink interference, which can be used for scheduling and load control at a base station, for example. A disclosed example includes obtaining measurements from individual users and using those measurements to determine corresponding portions of a total uplink interference at the base station. One portion is associated with users that are controlled by a scheduler for that base station. Another portion is associated with users that are not controlled by that scheduler. Determining each of the portions individually and using a received total wideband power measurement allows for determining each of the major portions of the total uplink interference at a base station.

  • Patent number: 7613476
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed whereby noise is introduced at one or more base stations in non-HSDPA cells into the uplink signal from one or more user devices. As a result, the apparent quality of the uplink channel in those cells will appear to be lower than the actual quality of that channel. The power control commands issued from the base station to the user device will, therefore, reflect this lower estimated channel quality and, as a result, the user device will follow power control commands from the base station in the HSDPA cell. Therefore, the transmit power of the user device will remain adequate to communicate with the base station in the HSDPA cell and, as a result, the UL and DL in the HSDPA cell will remain synchronized.

  • Patent number: 7480243
Abstract: The present invention, in particular, refers to is a data packet ordering method in a mobile communication network employing hierarchical routing with data packet forwarding comprising the step of providing at least one data message encompassing a predefined sequence of data packets, forwarding at least one of said data packets of the sequence via a first network element over a first transmission path to a user equipment, whereby a part of the data packets are temporarily buffered in the first network element during transmission, establishing a second transmission path, while forwarding the data packet sequence, such that the remaining data packets of the sequence not yet transmitted over the first path are forwarded via a second network element, forwarding of the data packets buffered in the first network element to the second network element for providing all data packets comprised by the data packet sequence to the user equipment, receiving and ordering of the data packets within said second network elemen

  • Patent number: 7471654
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for assigning a channel in response to a request for service for a mobile station in a wireless communication network serving a plurality of regions, such as cells in a digital cellular network. The mobile station may be located in one of the plurality of regions. The method comprises determining a first indication of congestion on a forward access channel and a second indication of congestion on a random access channel and assigning at least one channel of a plurality of channels to the mobile station based on the determined first and second indications of congestion. Based on the first indication of congestion, a first threshold may be adjusted for the forward access channel and a second threshold may be adjusted based on the second indication of congestion on the random access channel.
