  • Publication number: 20040131040
Abstract: The present invention, in particular, refers to is a data packet ordering method in a mobile communication network employing hierarchical routing with data packet forwarding comprising the step of providing at least one data message encompassing a predefined sequence of data packets, forwarding at least one of said data packets of the sequence via a first network element over a first transmission path to a user equipment, whereby a part of the data packets are temporarily buffered in the first network element during transmission, establishing a second transmission path, while forwarding the data packet sequence, such that the remaining data packets of the sequence not yet transmitted over the first path are forwarded via a second network element, forwarding of the data packets buffered in the first network element to the second network element for providing all data packets comprised by the data packet sequence to the user equipment, receiving and ordering of the data packets within said second network elemen

  • Patent number: 6704291
Abstract: A radio resource method and apparatus involves allocating transmission channels to and from a node (26) based on the system load requirement. The load requirement is determined from the quality of service requirement which, in turn, is assessed from the data rate, the bit energy to noise power ratio and the signal classification produced by a converter and sorter (38) in response to signal transmission requests. A maximum load generator (40) delivers the maximum load from these parameters. A core calculator and assignor (42) performs a predetermined algorithm on the outputs of the converter and sorter (38) and the maximum load generator (40) and in response thereto controls a channel selector (30) which selects the channels to and from node (26).

  • Publication number: 20030228871
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for estimating radio resource consumed by a service and its application for overload control provided between nodes and user equipment (UE), particularly in a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) network, comprising the steps of: extracting a first parameter from a common pilot channel (CPiCH) representing the ratio of received energy per chip to the total received power spectral density (EC/I0 CPiCH) and/or a second parameter representing the transmitted power of the common pilot channel (PCPiCH), assigning said first and/or said second parameter to a third parameter such that the third parameter represents the radio resource consumption of the service (Pi/Pmax, Ci).

  • Publication number: 20030142623
Abstract: A new and improved approach is described to avoid problems of overload handling for a random access packet transmission in packet switched mobile networks and in particular, to limit the transmit delay of at least some selected data flows even in case of a long-term overload situation. It is suggested to employ on a respective random access packet transmission channel an admission control functionality depending on a request for the adding of a new data flow and/or to employ on the respective random access packet transmission channel a congestion control functionality depending on varying environments.
