  • Patent number: 6937136
Abstract: A security system is disclosed which is suitable for use in a passive entry and passive starting arrangement for a vehicle 10. A set of transmitters in the form of coils A, B, C are spaced around the vehicle 10, one A, B in each door mirror 20R, 20L and one in a high level brake light 16 at the rear end. Operation of a door handle initiates an access challenge from the vehicle 10 which is sent out successively on a plurality of the coils A, B, C. • Publication number: 20040230382
Abstract: A device for performing the manipulation of particles suspended in a fluid is disclosed. The device comprises a duct for the flow of a fluid in which particles are suspended, an acoustic transducer, and a reflector for establishing an acoustic standing wave field across the width of the duct. It has been unexpectedly found that optimum performance of the device occurs when the spacing between the transducer and a reflector is 300 microns or less. The device seeks to overcome prior engineering difficulties that prevented one from observing the individual particle bands or separating the individual particle bands from the duct.

  • Patent number: 6805675
Abstract: A deflectable stylet system optimized for use in conjunction with a lead of the type having a fixation helix that is screwed into body tissue by rotation of the lead's connector pin is disclosed. The system includes an attachment that is rotatable and longitudinally slidable with respect to the handle of a deflectable stylet. A lead coupled to the attachment may be moved longitudinally with respect to a stylet to account for slight variances in the lead length. In one embodiment, the attachment couples to the lead via a pushbutton mechanism that can be locked to the lead using one hand. The attachment may be rotated to thereby rotate the lead connector. This allows for retraction and extension of a retractable fixation helix, and for further attachment or detachment of a fixation helix to adjacent tissue. In one embodiment, the attachment may be longitudinally rigidly positioned in predetermined locations with respect to the handle.

  • Publication number: 20040126165
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and a method that facilitates the assignment of a print job in a printing system that has one of more printers (10,11,12) connected to a computer-based printing system (1) so that the printers economically match the requirements of a print job generated by the printing system. Each printer (10,11,12) has a plurality of different printing configurations and each computer (2,3,4) is capable of generating at least one print job. Each print job has corresponding printing requirements and each printing configuration being capable of satisfying one or more printing requirements. A print job, once created, is notionally assigned across one or more of the printers (10,11,12) in such a way that the printers have printing configurations that are capable of satisfying the printing requirements. The cost for printing the print jobs is then calculated for that notional assignment.

  • Patent number: 6693633
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for displaying nodes on a display device. First positions are used for locating a first node and a second node on the display device. The first node and second node are separated from each other and are at least substantially equidistant from a predetermined center position. Second positions are determined for the first node and second node such that angular shift of the first node from its first position to its second position is different in magnitude than angular shift of the second node from its first position to its second position. These angular shifts for the first node and second node are with respect to the center position. The first node and second node are displayed on the display device based upon the determined second positions for the first node and second node.
