  • Publication number: 20040030417
Abstract: A tracking system is provided for detecting abnormal drift errors in the outputs of sensors (3) monitoring a plurality of parameters of a gas turbine engine (1). To this end the tracking system comprises a tracking simulator (5) providing a real-time computer model of the engine having control inputs for receiving control signals corresponding to control signals supplied to the engine in operation, and outputs for supplying estimated sensor output values Yest. The system additionally includes a tracking compensator (6) for producing estimated engine performance variation values &dgr;pest for supplying to the simulator (5), a memory (8) containing reference information indicative of the engine performance variation in response to hypothetical changes in the sensor output signals, and a sensor error estimation system (7) for producing estimated sensor output error values zest in dependence on the estimated engine performance variation values &dgr;pest and the reference information.

  • Patent number: 6683527
Abstract: A security system which is suitable for use in a vehicle. The security system is a passive entry and passive re-mobilization system in which a security controller transmits a command signal LCs to a remote transponder, which replies with a LF response signal LRs. If an LF response signal is not received in response to the transmission of a command signal LCs, the security controller re-transmits the command signal, again as an LF command signal LCs. On determining that a command signal is a re-transmitted command signal, the remote transponder re-transmits the response signal as an UHF response signal URs.

Abstract: A method is described of ensuring audit integrity in a supply chain for services requested by one node from another in a distributed network of computers, such nodes including an e-service provider and a plurality of product suppliers. The method particularly relates to the supply of a product which utilises valuable data for its production, and contains a negotiating phase for negotiating with at least one of the product suppliers for the production of the product and selecting a product supplier to produce and supply the product. In the negotiating phase, there is provision to the product suppliers of data address reference information relating to the location of the valuable data without the supply of the data to any of the product suppliers. The method also includes a production and supply phase in which the selected product supplier produces or arranges to produce the product and to supply the product, and the valuable data is provided in response to a request for the data.

  • Publication number: 20020178067
Abstract: This invention concerns an equipment supply method in which a high degree of reliability is assured and in which unscheduled visits by maintenance engineers to end users may be minimized. In a first step, the method comprises making an assessment of predicted user demand over a given time period for equipment usage. In a next step, an oversupply function is applied to the predicted user demand over the given time period to provide a safety factored predicted demand function. From the safety factored predicted demand, a number of equipment units required for supply is calculated and the equipment units supplied to the user. Equipment usage is then monitored over the given time period and if actual user demand deviates from predicted user demand during the time period, then the number of equipment units supplied to the user is modified at the next convenient opportunity.

  • Patent number: 6483100
Abstract: Silicon possesses an indirect band-gap, which limits its use in some photonic applications. A phonon generator is included in a silicon-based device, which promotes electron-hole recombination and so allows silicon to emit photons efficiently. Phonons may be generated by optical or electrical stimulation or as a result energy relaxation of hot-electrons.

  • Publication number: 20020163517
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for displaying nodes on a display device. First positions are used for locating a first node and a second node on the display device. The first node and second node are separated from each other and are at least substantially equidistant from a predetermined center position. Second positions are determined for the first node and second node such that angular shift of the first node from its first position to its second position is different in magnitude than angular shift of the second node from its first position to its second position. These angular shifts for the first node and second node are with respect to the center position. The first node and second node are displayed on the display device based upon the determined second positions for the first node and second node.
