  • Publication number: 20200344006
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing a retransmission protocol in a wireless local area network (WLAN). The retransmission protocol may be based on a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) protocol that supports a delayed acknowledgement for a HARQ retransmission based on receiver processing capability. A first WLAN device may determine that a second WLAN device requires more time to process the HARQ retransmission and may transmit a different communication (interlaced within the HARQ process) to either the second WLAN device or a third WLAN device during the time that the second WLAN device is processing the HARQ retransmission.

  • Patent number: 10772099
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for partial bandwidth feedback based on punctured sounding. Punctured sounding is used by a transmitting device that omits portions of a channel bandwidth based on a puncturing pattern. The puncturing pattern may be based on an exclusion bandwidth zone to avoid transmissions on portions of channels that may interfere with an incumbent system transmission. The puncturing pattern may be indicated in a null data packet announcement (NDPA) to inform the receiving device that a subsequent NDP will be punctured. The receiving device may determine the feedback by measuring the portions of the NDP that are not punctured. Beamforming may be enhanced by using punctured sounding between two beamforming endpoints.

  • Patent number: 10728861
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may identify a transmission mode for transmission of an input signal to be transmitted. The input signal may thus be modulated according to the identified transmission mode, and the modulated signal may then be transmitted at some power level to produce a transmitted signal having a spectral envelope. In some cases, the spectral envelope may be defined in terms of a power spectral density (PSD) of the transmitted waveform. The PSD may generally define the power of the waveform signal distributed over frequencies of the waveform. Further, the wireless device may control the modulation of the input signal, in addition to the power level of the input signal, to maintain the spectral envelope to be within a spectral mask defined for the implemented transmission mode as well as to conform to spectral flatness parameters.

  • Publication number: 20200228380
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for a wireless communication device to perform signal phase rotation. In some implementations, the wireless communication device may determine a number of phase rotation parameters to be applied to a number of tones of a transmission signal. In some aspects, each of the phase rotation parameters indicates a phase rotation to be applied to each of the tones according to a carrier index range for each of the tones and a bandwidth mode for the transmission signal. In some implementations, the wireless communication device may apply the phase rotation parameters to respective ones of the tones according to the specified phase rotations and the carrier index ranges, and transmit the transmission signal from the wireless communication device according to the applied phase rotation parameters.

  • Publication number: 20200153491
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for techniques for reducing feedback information in an extremely high throughput (EHT) wireless local area network (WLAN). A receiving device (beamformee), such as a station (STA), may receive a sounding signal from a transmitting device (beamformer), such as an access point (AP), and transmit channel feedback. The receiving device may transmit the channel feedback as part of a reduced compressed beamforming feedback (CBF) operation that includes determining a first set of channel characteristics. The receiving device may select a subset of the first set of channel characteristics and determine a set of differential characteristics based on the subset. The transmitting device may then transmit the sets of characteristics as reduced CBF to the transmitting device. The transmitting device may determine a channel estimation for beamformed signaling based on the reduced CBF.

  • Publication number: 20200137704
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, apparatus, and computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for relative timing drift correction for distributed multi-user transmissions. In one aspect, a first access point (AP) may receive a first signal from a second AP. The first signal may be associated with a channel sounding procedure to be performed substantially simultaneously by the second AP and the first AP. The first AP may then receive a second signal from the second AP, and prior to a substantially simultaneous transmission by the second AP and the first AP. The second signal may include timing information relative to the first signal. The first AP may determine a start time of the substantially simultaneous transmission at the first AP based on the timing information, and may initiate the substantially simultaneous transmission according to the determined start time.

  • Publication number: 20200112350
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for null data packet (NDP) based implicit sounding and calibration for a wireless local area network (WLAN). An AP may perform a calibration procedure with one or more stations (STAs) that involves NDP transmissions. The AP may calibrate an effective downlink channel response to an effective uplink channel to compensate for transmit and receive chain differences. The AP may initiate implicit sounding by transmitting a downlink message that includes an uplink NDP announcement frame to the one or more STAs, prompting uplink multi-user (MU) NDP transmission. The AP may estimate the uplink channel based on measuring the received NDPs and mirror the estimated uplink channel for reciprocal downlink channel estimation and precoding generation. The AP may perform MU multiple input multiple output (MIMO) downlink transmission that is precoded based on the channel estimation.

  • Publication number: 20200076551
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for coordination between multiple access points (APs) for communications within a transmission opportunity (TxOP). A first AP may gain channel access for a TxOP, and may coordinate with at least a second AP to allow both the first AP and the second AP to transmit and receive wireless communications during the TxOP. The first AP, upon gaining channel access following a successful contention-based channel access procedure, may initiate a scheduling phase with the second AP to schedule of resources within the TxOP for the first and second APs. The first AP may initiate a multi-AP coordinated transmission phase following the scheduling phase, during which both the first AP and second AP may communicate with one or more associated STAs.

  • Publication number: 20190288895
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for communicating over a wireless communication network. A wireless communication device may be configured to generate and transmit a message according to a tone plan for transmission to multiple destination devices within one of a 240 or 320 MHz channel bandwidth. The message may include a short training field (STF) and a long training field (LTF). The STF may be used by a receiver to adjust an automatic gain control (AGC) function. The LTF may be used for channel estimation. In some implementations, the STF may have a data tone plan formed from a concatenated sequence of sub-STFs. A phase rotation applied to at least one of the sub-STFs of the concatenated sequence may reduce a peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) of the message as compared to a non-phase rotated concatenated sequence of sub-STFs.
