  • Patent number: 7891405
Abstract: A water-cooled mold for continuous casting includes two water-cooled wide copper plates arranged opposite to each other in a front and back direction and two water-cooled narrow copper plates arranged opposite to each other in a left and right direction. The upper portion of the cavity of the mold is a sprue area and the lower portion of the cavity is a mold cavity area. The sprue area is gradually narrowed in the casting direction and smoothly transited into the mold cavity, corresponding to the shape of a slab to be cast. The inside surfaces of the water-cooled narrow copper plates are smooth planar surfaces. A portion of the inside surface of the water-cooled wide copper plates in the sprue area is a curved surface and another portion in the mold cavity area is a planar surface. The curved surface and the planar surface portions form a continuous smooth surface.

  • Patent number: 7557466
Abstract: A humidity detection and power cut-off device for electronic equipment is provided. The device is connected between a battery (10) and a motherboard (40) of the electronic equipment and includes an auto protection device (20) and a moisture-triggered device (30). The auto protection device is connected between the battery and the power management module and is used to establish or cut off the connection between the battery and the power management module. The moisture-triggered device is used to detect the immediate ambient humidity and controls the auto protection device. If the moisture-triggered circuit detects that the immediate ambient humidity exceeds a predetermined critical humidity value, the moisture-triggered device outputs a trigger signal to the auto protection device. The trigger signal controls the auto protection circuit to cut off a connection between the battery and the power management module, thus to achieve waterproofing protecting for the electronic equipment.

  • Publication number: 20070134913
Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention provide methods of forming a metal interconnect structure which avoid defects arising from copper migration. In accordance with particular embodiments, an electroplated copper feature is subjected to a brief thermal anneal prior to chemical mechanical polishing and subsequent formation of an overlying barrier layer. This thermal anneal intentionally provokes migration of the copper and resulting formation of hillocks or voids, which are then removed by a CMP step. The barrier layer may thus subsequently be formed over a defect-free surface, which has already experienced stress release along grain boundaries as a result of the thermal treatment.

  • Publication number: 20070053454
Abstract: In estimating and compensating impairments of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, a first estimation is obtained by evaluating and comparing received training symbols with transmitted training symbols. A second estimation is obtained by evaluating and comparing a first portion of received payload symbols with estimated payload symbols. A final estimation is obtained by combining the first and second estimations. Compensation of a second portion of the payload symbols is obtained by using the final estimation, while compensation of the first portion of the payload symbols is obtained by using the first estimation. The current method and apparatus, ideal for low rate systems, disclosed herein allows for required signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) performance less then 0.2 dB away from the best achievable performance without the introduction of complex or expensive hardware.

  • Patent number: 7079828
Abstract: In a multi-user radio receiver, a method and apparatus for reducing the effects of non-linear distortion due to adjacent channel interference (ACI) includes receiving and processing a multi-user information signal to provide a plurality of multi-user information values and then detecting, from the plurality of multi-user information values, at least a first information value having a signal strength which is relatively high compared with the signal strengths of the other plurality of multi-user information values. The apparatus then utilizes the plurality of multi-user information values, the first information value and a spectral representation of the first information value to generate a plurality of second information values having significantly reduced adjacent channel interference with respect to the first information value. The method and apparatus can thus increase the system capacity by increasing the frequency reuse factor in the a receiver system (e.g.
