    Abstract: In one aspect, a heat transfer apparatus for an industrial process that requires process fluid at a process fluid set temperature. The heat transfer apparatus includes a process fluid heat exchange circuit having a heat exchanger, an airflow generator, and a thermal energy storage. The controller is configured to operate the process fluid heat exchange circuit in a second mode wherein the thermal energy storage transfers heat between the process fluid and the thermal energy storage and the heat exchanger transfers heat between the process fluid and the air based at least in part upon a parameter of the air and a determination of the process fluid heat exchange circuit in a first mode, wherein the process fluid bypasses the thermal energy storage, being unable to provide the process fluid at the process fluid set temperature.

    Abstract: A lighting unit for a display panel includes a light distribution module, an array of out-couplers, and a beam spot array generation module. The light distribution module includes a plurality of output waveguides for configurably distributing illuminating light between the output waveguides. Each out-coupler is coupled to an output waveguide and configured to out-couple a portion of the illuminating light to propagate towards the display panel. The beam spot array generation module is configured to receive portions of the illuminating light out-coupled by out-couplers of the array of out-couplers and to convert each portion to illuminate a zone of the display panel with an illuminating light field comprising an array of light spots. Each light spot is configured for illuminating an individual pixel or sub-pixel of the zone of the display panel.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for SMS MRI. During each of a plurality of frames, the system may cause an MRI scanner to apply a plurality of PE steps to each of a plurality of slice locations of a subject to acquire echo signals. A phase modulation magnetic field gradient may be applied during each of at least some of the PE steps in the frame. For each frame, the system may reconstruct an aliasing image representative of the slice locations in the frame based on the corresponding echo signals. The system may also generate a plurality of reference slice images based on the aliasing images. The system may further reconstruct at least one slice image based on the aliasing images and the reference slice images. Each of the slice image may be representative of one of the slice locations in one of the frames.

    Abstract: Optical wavefront shaping has been the standard technique to control light through scattering media. Implicit in this dominance is the assumption that knowledge of the optical phase is a necessity for optical control through scattering media. In this paper, we challenge this assumption by reporting on an intensity-only approach for light control through (or reflected from) a disordered scattering medium—optical-channel-based intensity streaming (OCIS). Instead of actively tuning the interference between the optical paths via wavefront shaping, OCIS can control light and transmit information through or from scattering media with linear intensity operation, which not only simplifies and speeds up the system but also enables new applications. We experimentally created focus patterns through scattering media in a sub-millisecond timescale with a phase-manipulation-free setup. We also demonstrate that, unlike wavefront shaping, OCIS can readily generate distinct energy null points through scattering media.
