    Abstract: Signaling to enable relay-based user equipment (UE) cooperation (UC) by a group of UEs, and a configuration including an adaptation protocol for processing of UC bearer traffic, are communicated in a wireless communication network. The UC bearer traffic includes a UC bearer and UC bearer attributes, and the UC bearer includes either a split bearer or a duplicated bearer indicated in the UC bearer attributes. In some embodiments, wireless network connectivity that is available for a relay link is determined, and the adaptation protocol is determined based on the determined connectivity. Signaling to enable configuration of the relay link in accordance with the connectivity and the adaptation protocol is communicated. A UE may receive signaling to configure the UE for such a relay link, and communicates traffic between a remote UE and the wireless communication network over the relay link.

    Abstract: A bit-level operation may be implemented prior to modulation and resource element (RE) mapping in order to generate a NoMA transmission using standard (QAM, QPSK, BPSK, etc.) modulators. In this way, the bit-level operation is exploited to achieve the benefits of NoMA (e.g., improved spectral efficiency, reduced overhead, etc.) at significantly less signal processing and hardware implementation complexity. The bit-level operation is specifically designed to produce an output bit-stream that is longer than the input bit-stream, and that includes output bit-values that are computed as a function of the input bit-values such that when the output bit-stream is subjected to modulation (e.g., m-ary QAM, QPSK, BPSK), the resulting symbols emulate a spreading operation that would otherwise have been generated from the input bit-stream, either by a NoMA-specific modulator or by a symbol-domain spreading operation.

    Abstract: A system and method of DFT-S-OFDM modulation is provided that uses a set of frequency domain patterns. For a given transmitter, for a set of DFT-S-OFDM symbols, the frequency domain pattern changes according to a time domain hopping pattern. Advantageously, the time domain hopping patterns are defined to allow only a certain amount of overlap, for example for only one DFT-S-OFDM symbol, between any two time domain hopping patterns. This functions to reduce the effect of a collision, when two transmitters use the same frequency pattern, they will do so only for part of the overall transmission. Optionally, frequency domain spectral spreading is used in the transmitter. This can further reduce the PAPR. In the receiver, successive interference cancellation may be employed to reduce the effect of colliding transmissions.

Retransmissions contain vertical parity check blocks which are determined from verticals from the set of horizontal code blocks. Once all the vertical parity check blocks have been transmitted, a new set may be determined after performing interleaving upon either the content of the horizontal code blocks, in the case of non-systematic horizontal code blocks, or over the content of encoder input bits in the place of systematic horizontal code blocks. The interleaving may be bitwise or bit subset-wise. wise. The retransmissions do not contain any of the original bits. In the decoder, soft decisions are produced, and nothing needs to be discarded; decoding will typically improve with each retransmission.
