  • Publication number: 20040162303
Abstract: Novel 4-aminopyrimidine-5-one derivatives are disclosed. These compounds inhibit cyclin-dependent kinases, in particular cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (Cdk4). These compounds and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and esters have antiproliferative activity and are useful in the treatment or control of cancer, in particular solid tumors. This invention is also directed to pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds and to methods of treating or controlling cancer, most particularly the treatment or control of breast, lung, colon and prostate tumors. Also disclosed are intermediates useful in the preparation of these novel 4-aminopyrimidine-5-one derivatives.

  • Patent number: 6718332
Abstract: A data transfer interface for importing data from a source system to a target system, including a source data adapter having an attribute definition transcriber for generating transcribed data, and a target data adapter having a data format converter for converting the transcribed data from a first format to a second format. The data transfer interface may include a data validator to ensure that the user data selected for importation is valid before the data is transcribed. The source data adapter and the target data adapter may be configured for use with a communications architecture that allows the source data adapter and the target data adapter to receive and transmit user data as events on a data communications network.

  • Patent number: 6718376
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing management and maintenance to a node within a data communications network and to the composite data communications network. A network management application is started on a host which may be located at a network operation center. The management application is in communication with network nodes and services through adapters. A master daemon located at a node is activated. The master daemon starts a control adapter running on the node and if the control adapter fails the master daemon restarts the control adapter. The control adapter is capable of starting and stopping all services running on the node. Signals are communicated between the management application, the node and the services by way of adapters. Signaling provides for the exchange of useful event data related to the nodes and services running on the nodes.

  • Patent number: 6643782
Abstract: A method for providing single step log-on access for a subscriber to a computer network. The computer network is differentiated into public and private areas. Secure access to the private areas is provided by a Service Selection Gateway (SSG) Server, introduced between a conventional Network Access Server (NAS) and an Authentication Authorization and Accounting (AAA) Server. The SSG Server intercepts and manipulates packets of data exchanged between the NAS and the AAA Server to obtain all the information it needs to automatically log the user on when the user logs on to the NAS. An authorized user is thus spared the task of having to re-enter username and password data or launch a separate application in order to gain secure access to private areas of the network.

  • Publication number: 20030042437
Abstract: Flyback power supplies require three chip integrated circuits to control the switching cycles on the primary of a transformer including a chip that detects when a voltage threshold and optionally when a current threshold has been crossed on the secondary side of the transformer, an opto-coupler to isolate the secondary to primary feedback from the first chip, and a switch control circuit that receives the feedback information from the opto-coupler and uses the information to modulate the primary pulses in order to regulate the secondary voltage and to optionally set a current compliance limit on the secondary current. This invention shows how these three integrated circuits can be combined into one package using silicon based LEDs. Furthermore, circuit techniques are presented that allow the detection of low level light produced by silicon based LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20030039210
Abstract: Certain bits of a packet, such as bits in the IP header of an IP packet, are used to designate the type of service or Quality of Service (QoS) level to be afforded to the packet as it passes through a data communications network. A user entitled to a certain QoS level logs into a service selection gateway SSG. The SSG queries an authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) server in response to a log-in attempt by the user. Upon authorization, the AAA server returns an access accept signal in addition to an indication from the user's service profile (user profile) as to the QoS level to be afforded the user. While the user is logged in, all packets are routed through the SSG. The SSG sets the certain bits of the packet in accordance with the user's assigned QoS level so that as the packets are routed through the data communications network, they are consistently afforded the assigned Quality of Service level.

  • Patent number: 6490289
Abstract: Multiple simultaneous network connections from a single PPP connection may be accomplished by utilizing a gateway in the following manner. A first network connection is established between the gateway and a first network. A first real network address for the user is then received, the first real network address assigned by the first network. Then, the gateway may establish a network session between the gateway and a second network and receive a second real network address for the user, the second real network address assigned by the second network. A virtual network address may be assigned to the user for network address translation purposes. Additional network connections may be added in a similar manner. Network address translation is then performed on packets traveling between the user and any of the network sessions. This allows each of the simultaneous network connections to gain the benefits of network address translation.

  • Patent number: 6490290
Abstract: A method for routing packets sent from a user to the internet is provided for systems in which the user is connected to a private network. The method includes: extracting a source network address from the packet; using said source network address to retrieve a user profile for the user; examining said user profile to determine whether to route the packet through the private network or to route the packet directly to the Internet; and routing said packet according to said profile. This allows a user or network provider to choose whether to route packets destined for the Internet directly to the Internet rather than through the private network, thus preventing excessive network traffic on the private network.

  • Patent number: 6425003
Abstract: A method and apparatus for resolving where to forward DNS (domain name service) requests for a user simultaneously logged into more than one service existing on a data communications network utilizes an active service list (ASL) to keep track of the services that the user is currently logged into. The active service list includes a list of services sorted in a particular order based on information about the service and sometimes the order in which the user logged into the services. Each service has a profile that defines, among other things, the IP Address space for the service and a Domain attribute. To determine the appropriate service and, therefore, the appropriate DNS server for a DNS request, the QName from the DNS request is compared to the configured Domain attribute(s) for each service in the order of the ASL. If a match is found, then the DNS request packet is modified to re-direct the DNS request to the DNS server configured for the matched service.

  • Patent number: 6381646
Abstract: Multiple simultaneous network connections from a single PPP connection may be accomplished. A primary PPP connection is established between a user and a first network. A first real network address for the user is then received, the first real network address assigned by the first network. Then, the gateway may establish a secondary network session between a gateway and a second network, receiving a second real network address assigned by the second network. Additional network connections may be added as secondary network sessions. Network address translation is then performed on packets traveling between the user and any of the secondary network sessions, but not on packets traveling between the user and the primary PPP connection. This allows for connection to multiple networks without disturbing the primary PPP session and also allows for the utilization of applications which may not be used with network address translation on the primary PPP session.

  • Patent number: 6263369
Abstract: A network access point for locally processing an access request is configured to include an information bus, an access event publisher, and at least one local cache having at least one user record. The access event publisher publishes at least one network access event on the information bus during the processing of the access request. The first local cache is coupled to and is responsive to the network access event by updating the user record according to information contained by the network access event if the information includes a home access point ID that corresponds to the first local cache. The network access point may be part of a communications system having a mother cache. The mother cache is coupled to the first local cache and includes user records of subscribers supported by the communications system.
