Publication number: 20200089835Abstract: A customizable routing system allows designers to create custom connection layouts that can be stored, turned into templates, reused, and further customized. The system describes designer-input custom connection layouts in terms of “structural directives” that specify its patterns and properties instead of using precise dimensions. Structural directives may describe particular connection patterns between structural components (e.g., backbone or fishbone), the placement, width, direction or layer of specific structural components, and properties of structural components relative to other components. These structural directives are implemented generally during routing, such as through design constraints, which allows the router to locally optimize the design (e.g., for cost or wire length) while considering the structural intentions of the designer.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2019Publication date: March 19, 2020Inventors: Hsiang-Wen Jimmy Lin, Friedrich Gunter Kurt Sendig, Mathieu Eric Drut, Philippe Aubert McComber

Patent number: 10380297Abstract: Embodiments relate to designing of integrated circuits using generation and instantiation of circuit stencils. The circuit stencil represents an abstracted version of the circuit segment. The circuit stencils include collapsed versions of the connectivity information of components and nodes of the integrated circuit. The collapsed version of the connectivity information is generated by analyzing functionality of the circuit segment and removing or replacing at least one redundant component or node of the circuit segment without modifying the functionality. The circuit stencil is used for instantiating or referencing components into a second integrated circuit.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2017Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: Synopsys, Inc.Inventors: Friedrich Gunter Kurt Sendig, Donald John Oriordan, Jonathan Lee Sanders, Salem Lee Ganzhorn, Barry Andrew Giffel, Hsiang-Wen Jimmy Lin

Patent number: 10346579Abstract: Embodiments relate to an interactive routing of connections in a circuit where connections associated with an initial pin of a circuit element (e.g., a row of FinFETs) are replicated in association with at least one other pin of the circuit element or a different circuit element in the circuit. The replication of connections can be performed intelligently by taking into account mapping of pins as well as design rules or other restrictions imposed on the circuit. The connections can be in form of trunks and branches, and are displayed as user inputs are received. A digital representation of the circuit with the connections as displayed is also generated. At least some of the connections in the circuit are replicated without individual user inputs based on user inputs associated with a connection to the initial pin.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2018Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: Synopsys, Inc.Inventors: Philippe Aubert McComber, Hsiang-Wen Jimmy Lin

Patent number: 8741573Abstract: Analysis of 13,023 genes in 11 breast and 11 colorectal cancers revealed that individual tumors accumulate an average of ˜90 mutant genes but that only a subset of these contribute to the neoplastic process. Using stringent criteria to delineate this subset, we identified 189 genes (average of 11 per tumor) that were mutated at significant frequency. The vast majority of these genes were not known to be genetically altered in tumors and are predicted to affect a wide range of cellular functions, including transcription, adhesion, and invasion. These data define the genetic landscape of two human cancer types, provide new targets for diagnostic and therapeutic intervention and monitoring.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2007Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: The Johns Hopkins UniversityInventors: Tobias Sjoblom, Sian Jones, D. Publication number: 20130196312Abstract: Human cancer is caused by the accumulation of mutations in oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. To catalogue the genetic changes that occur during tumorigenesis, we isolated DNA from 11 breast and 11 colorectal tumors and determined the sequences of the genes in the Reference Sequence database in these samples. Based on analysis of exons representing 20,857 transcripts from 18,191 genes, we conclude that the genomic landscapes of breast and colorectal cancers are composed of a handful of commonly mutated gene “mountains” and a much larger number of gene “hills” that are mutated at low frequency. We describe statistical and bioinformatic tools that may help identify mutations with a role in tumorigenesis. These results have implications for understanding the nature and heterogeneity of human cancers and for using personal genomics for tumor diagnosis and therapy.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2011Publication date: August 1, 2013Applicant: THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITYInventors: Laura D. Patent number: 8093630Abstract: The invention provides a semiconductor device and a lateral diffused metal-oxide-semiconductor transistor. The semiconductor device includes a substrate having a first conductive type. A gate is disposed on the substrate. A source doped region is formed in the substrate, neighboring with a first side of the gate, wherein the source doped region has a second conductive type different from the first conductive type. A drain doped region is formed in the substrate, neighboring with a second side opposite to the first side of the gate. The drain doped region is constructed by a plurality of first doped regions with the first conductive type and a plurality of second doped regions with the second conductive type, wherein the first doped regions and the second doped regions are alternatively arranged.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2009Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: Vanguard International Semiconductor CorporationInventors: Jimmy Lin, Shang-Hui Tu, Ming-Horng Hsiao
