  • Patent number: 9531502
Abstract: A method is provided in a receiving node for handling status information of data units transmitted from a sending node to the receiving node over a radio link. The receiving node establishes (401) that a number of data units that has been transmitted by the sending node are missing. The receiving node sends (402) a reduced status message to the sending node over the radio link, which message is reduced such that it comprises the negative acknowledgement for a first part of missing data units and omits negative acknowledgements for the rest of the missing data units. The omitted negative acknowledgement for the rest of the missing data units will not erroneously be interpreted as correctly received data units by the sending node.

  • Patent number: 9532368
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in a cellular communication system, for avoiding errors in a HARQ process, wherein an NDI flag is used both for indicating either semi-persistent scheduling, SPS activation or SPS retransmissions, and also for indicating, by toggling of the flag, a new transmission in dynamic scheduling mode. The method comprises the steps of receiving, in a scheduling message, an indication that dynamically scheduled transmission will take place; if a semi persistent resource has occurred for the same HARQ process since a previously received indication for dynamically scheduled transmission, then considering the NDI flag to be toggled regardless of the value of the NDI flag. Thus, if the condition is fulfilled, a UE will always regard the NDI flag as indicating or requesting a new data transmission.

  • Publication number: 20160360459
Abstract: A mobile station in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) communication network transmits Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) protocol data units to a base station and the base station transfers corresponding PDCP service data units to a core network. The mobile station is configured to support handover from a source base station to a target base station. The mobile station generates new PDCP protocol data units for missing PDCP service data units, and transmits the new PDCP protocol data units to the target base station, responsive to signaling from the target base station that indicates which PDCP service data units have been successfully received at the target base station. The new PDCP protocol data units are generated using ciphering specific to the connection with the target base station, from corresponding PDCP service data units buffered at the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 9515797
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and arrangements for using an identifier of a predefined type, e.g. an RNTI identifying one configuration on an out-band control channel for activating the configuration identifiable by that identifier. The identifier is sent from the network to the UE, when a configuration corresponding to that identifier is to be activated. This implies that both the UE and the radio base station comprise a mapping between each configuration and the corresponding identity of each configuration.

  • Patent number: 9504019
Abstract: According to the invention data in a number of logical downlink intended for one or more mobile terminals are received in a first mapping unit, where at least a first High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity is allocated to these logical downlink channels addressing a group of mobile terminals for allowing transmission of channel data for reception by mobile terminals. A mobile terminal then reads, from a Broadcast Control Channel, necessary information including a High Speed Radio Network Temporary identity allocated to at least one logical downlink channel, where at least said first identity exists among possible identities. It then listens to a high speed shared control channel for the read identity. In case it detects the identity, the terminal follows a scheduling command, receives data on a high-speed downlink shared channel and processes said data.

  • Patent number: 9485059
Abstract: A method and apparatus according to the present invention addresses and/or prevents lost protocol synchronization in HARQ systems caused by ACK/NACK errors. One embodiment detects lost synchronization errors for NDI-based retransmission protocols and restores synchronization by sending an explicit RESET message. In response to the RESET message, the transmitter aborts the transmission of a current PDU and transmits a new PDU and corresponding NDI. Another embodiment prevents protocol synchronization errors by sending scheduling grants on a packet by packet basis. The receiver sends a subsequent explicit scheduling grant to the transmitter based on an error evaluation of a received PDU. The transmitter will not send the next PDU unless it receives the subsequent explicit scheduling grant.

  • Patent number: 9426710
Abstract: In a wireless communication network where base stations receive protocol data units (PDUs) from mobile stations for decompression and deciphering for ordered, sequential transfer as service data units (SDUs) to an associated core network, the teachings presented herein provide a method of supporting seamless handover of a mobile station from a source base station to a target base station. By way of example, the teachings herein apply to a network based on the E-UTRA specifications, as promulgated by the 3GPP. However, that example is non-limiting, as the teachings herein apply to any network that employs in-sequence data delivery and duplicate data detection at handover. Broadly, the source base station forwards out-of-sequence SDUs and corresponding sequence number information to the target base station in support of seamless handover, and the target base station uses that information to request retransmissions as needed for packet reordering.

  • Publication number: 20160234814
Abstract: UTRAN MAC-d multiplexing of data from multiple logical channels to a single MAC-d flow is supported while reducing overhead and achieving octet alignment in MAC-d PDU length. In one embodiment, the C/T field of a multiplexed MAC-d PDU is eliminated, and the logical channels multiplexed into the MAC-d flow are mapped to a MAC-hs PQ in at least the NodeB (and preferably in the UE as well). In other embodiments, the C/T field is retained, and an octet-aligned length indicator is transmitted from the RNC to the UE. In one embodiment, the length indicator is octet-aligned by padding the MAC-d PDUs. In another embodiment, transmitters and receivers in the path from RNC to UE are configured with an offset to add to the length indicator to achieve octet alignment. The padding or offset is (8?n) bits, where n=the number of bits in C/T field.

  • Patent number: 9414345
Abstract: method and an arrangement (800) in a radio network node (140) for sharing of a first Cell Radio Network Temporary Identifier, referred to as “C-RNTI” between at least a first and a second communication device (110, 120) are provided. The radio network node (140) receives a first random access preamble from the first communication device (110). Furthermore, the radio network node (140) associates the first C-RNTI to the first communication device (110), in response to the first random access preamble. The radio network node (140) receives a second random access preamble from the second communication device (120). Moreover, the radio network node (140) associates the first C-RNTI to the second communication device (120), in response to the second random access preamble, while the association of the first C-RNTI to the first communication device (110) is maintained.

  • Patent number: 9356739
Abstract: A transmitter that may have marginal power availability is enabled to autonomously retransmit previously transmitted frames containing the same data. The transmitter sends an initial frame to a base transceiver station (BTS) and immediately retransmits the same frame without regard to any ACK/NAK transmission from the BTS. The retransmissions are accumulated in the receiver and decoded after a sufficient quantity of the frame is transmitted. After receiving the last retransmitted frame the BTS sends an ACK/NAK to the transmitter that is accepted.

  • Patent number: 9338690
Abstract: Systems, devices, methods and software according to these exemplary embodiments provide for reducing the number of different sequence numbers used to transmit radio link control, RLC, data blocks to avoid, for example, sequence number stalling. This can be accomplished by, for example, transmitting or receiving RLC protocol data unit, PDU, segments as the initial or original instance of data communication.

  • Patent number: 9241310
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for reducing a state transition time from a power saving state for a user equipment (18) in a communication network. The state transition time is reduced by retaining in the user equipment (18) one or more information parameter, such as the radio network temporary identifier for a high speed downlink shared channel (H-RNTI), when performing a state transition to said power saving state so as to enable a time reduction when said user equipment switches back from said power saving state.
