  • Publication number: 20180100919
Abstract: A system is described for measuring distance between an RFID reader and an RFID backscatter tag, including an adaptive linear combiner, which is a tapped delay line with controllable weights on each tap, and outputs that are summed and subtracted from a reference to produce an error signal. After a sufficient number of cycles, the weight distribution indicates the delay of the received signal with respect to the reference, and by extension determines the distance between the tag and receiver.

  • Patent number: 9762087
Abstract: An apparatus for providing Ancillary Services to an ISO controls multiple controllable resources over a network in a cost effective manner. The apparatus comprises a central server computer and multiple controllers communicative with the central server computer over a network. Each controller is located at a resource site and controls one or more resource devices. The central server computer has a memory with a program which executes the following operations: receives a services request signal from the ISO such as a Ancillary Services request, which requests a change in power consumed or supplied by the resources on the network; calculates the lowest cost means of delivering the requested Ancillary Services request; and sends setpoint control signals to the controller at each resource site where a change is needed, requesting a change in the operation of each resource device.

  • Publication number: 20170204698
Abstract: A collapsible baffle sub installable within a casing string of a hydrocarbon well. The collapsible baffle sub includes a movable sleeve and a collapsible baffle. By moving the sleeve from a first to a second position using a setting tool, the collapsible baffle is permitted to collapse within the collapsible baffle sub. Once collapsed, the collapsible baffle may receive an untethered object, such as a ball, forming a seal between the untethered object and the collapsible baffle and isolating sections of the wellbore for treatment.
