  • Patent number: 8577726
Abstract: A calculate bid system calculates bid amounts based on category-specific conversion information and category-specific advertising expense factors. The calculate bid system collects conversion information for keywords used in advertisements for categories of items purchased during converting sessions. The calculate bid system uses collected category-specific conversion information along with category-specific advertising expense factors to calculate a bid amount for a keyword. The calculate bid system may calculate a bid amount by generating a product for each category of the financial benefit for the category multiplied by the advertising expense factor for that category. The calculate bid system may then aggregate the products and normalize the aggregated product by dividing by a collected number of conversions. The calculate bid system may then multiply the normalized aggregated product by a forecast conversion rate to give the bid amount.

  • Publication number: 20130261009
Abstract: Cardiovascular disease, e.g., congestive heart failure, is often first diagnosed after the onset of clinical symptoms, eliminating potential for early intervention. The invention provides a multi-marker immunoassay, including cardiac pathology and vascular inflammation biomarkers, yielding a more sensitive assay for early detection of CHF in plasma. A panel consisting of cardiac pathology (cTnI, BNP) and vascular inflammation (IL-6, TNF?, IL-17a) biomarkers provided a sensitivity of 94% for association with CHF.

  • Publication number: 20130260390
Abstract: The present invention discloses methods for the detection and monitoring of a condition in a subject using highly sensitive detection of molecules. The invention provides a method for detecting or monitoring a condition in a subject, comprising detecting a first marker in a first sample from the subject and detecting a second marker, wherein the first marker comprises a biomarker, e.g., Cardiac Troponin-I (cTnI) or Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), and wherein the limit of detection of the first marker is less than about 10 pg/ml. The second marker can be a biomarker, physiological marker, a molecular marker or a genetic marker.

  • Publication number: 20130046895
Abstract: An apparatus for providing Ancillary Services to an ISO controls multiple controllable resources over a network in a cost effective manner. The apparatus comprises a central server computer and multiple controllers communicative with the central server computer over a network. Each controller is located at a resource site and controls one or more resource devices. The central server computer has a memory with a program which executes the following operations: receives a services request signal from the ISO such as a Ancillary Services request, which requests a change in power consumed or supplied by the resources on the network; calculates the lowest cost means of delivering the requested Ancillary Services request; and sends setpoint control signals to the controller at each resource site where a change is needed, requesting a change in the operation of each resource device.

  • Publication number: 20120019354
Abstract: Methods and devices for a wireless security controller that is able to receive data transmissions over multiple frequency channels and decode security messages that use different data protocols is provided. The security controller monitors an incoming security message transmission from a security sensor. As the transmission is received, the security controller analyzes the data, and determines whether is encoded using one of two or more different transmission protocols. The security controller then completes reception and error-checking of the received security message, and processes the security message.

  • Publication number: 20110150658
Abstract: A process of fabricating rotating hardware and rotating hardware formed thereby. The process includes fabricating at least two members that together define at least two portions of a component. Each member has an interface surface at which the members can be joined to locate a first of the portions in a radially outward direction from a second of the portions. The members are joined together so that the interface surfaces thereof form a joint interface located within a pad region that has a axial thickness that is greater than a contiguous region of the component. The joint interface is not perpendicular to the axial and radial directions of the component. The pad region is defined by embossments that are offset from each other in the radial direction of the component so as to partially but not completely overlap each other in the axial direction of the component.
