  • Publication number: 20220020559
Abstract: Method for investigating samples by time-series emission of cathodoluminescence (CL) microscope having electron beam and light sensor. In discovery scan, changes caused by the electron beam are unknown, in an inspection scan changes have already been identified in similar sample. Discovery scan starts by setting parameters of the electron beam to irradiate at a first rate of dose; flushing the buffer of the light sensor; scanning the electron beam over an area of interest on the sample while collecting CL emission with the light sensor, while preventing any reading of the data from the buffer until the entire scanning has been completed; once the entire scanning has been completed, blanking the electron beam and interrogating the buffer to identify a first CL image; and then interrogating the buffer to fetch all remaining CL images and tagging all fetched CL images according to time sequence starting from the first CL image.

  • Publication number: 20210394118
Abstract: A method and system for water-priming carbon micropore filter media using negative pressure. The method includes placing dry filter elements in a polymer bag, applying a vacuum of no more than approximately 33 kPa above zero pressure, and heat-sealing the bag using a heat-set bar; submerging, by a consumer, the vacuum-sealed bag with its the filter elements in water; the filters in the vacuum sealed bag are at least partially submerged, puncturing the bag to form one or more small openings in the bag below the water line. Breeching the vacuum causes the water to flow through the openings into the bag and the filter(s) to equalize the pressure between the water and the previously vacuum environment of the plastic bag, causing the surrounding water to quickly flow into the micro-pores of the filter media, thereby priming the carbon filter for use in the gravity-fed water-purification system.

  • Patent number: 11190567
Abstract: Implementations provide low-latency live-video streams using existing content delivery networks. An example method includes receiving a video broadcast as a series of frames and determining, for each frame, whether the frame is a break frame. Responsive to determining that the frame is a break frame, the method includes removing an in-progress tag from a current segment file in a playlist for the video broadcast. The playlist includes at least a previous segment file, the current segment file, and a next segment file, which also has a respective in-progress tag. The method also includes associating the frame with a next segment file in a playlist and transmitting the playlist to a cache server. Responsive to determining the frame in the series of frames is not a break frame, the method includes associating the frame with the current segment file. The frame is transmitted to the cache server as a chunk.

  • Patent number: 11150818
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods, systems, and circuitry for reduced error in power consumption estimation for distinct circuitries. A non-limiting example includes distinct circuitry having an optimized power consumption definition. The distinct circuitry includes a substrate. The distinct circuitry includes an arrangement of interoperable hardware components disposed on the substrate having input pins defined according to a model described by a hardware description language operable to emulate toggle events of the interoperable hardware components defined by the model having a toggle event count based on combinations of the toggle events that correspond to predetermined power quantities. The toggle events define an aggregate toggle power consumption closer to an actual power consumption than an aggregate pin power consumption based on the input pins.

  • Patent number: 11094021
Abstract: An online system presenting content items to a user generates a model that predicts a latent metric describing user actions that occur at least a reasonable amount of time after presentation of content items. To determine the latent metric, the online system retrieves one or more models predicting likelihoods of the user performing various interactions when presented with the content items and determines weights associated with different retrieved models. Combining the weighted retrieved models generates a model for determining the latent metric. As the retrieved models are based on data accessible to the online system in less than the reasonable amount of time after presenting content items, weighing the retrieved models allows the online system to predict the latent metric describing user actions occurring after content items are presented. When selecting content items for the user, the online system accounts for the latent metric determined by the generated model.

  • Patent number: 11091687
Abstract: A method of treating a reservoir penetrated by at least one well involves placing a consolidated solids pack into a permeable zone of rock in the reservoir. The consolidated solids pack has a reduced permeability to water and a reduced mobility in the permeable zone. For example, when placed in the permeable zone in connection with a water flooding operation, the consolidated solids pack diverts the injectant from the permeable zone to other less permeable zones of the reservoir that contain oil.

  • Patent number: 11074420
Abstract: A self-learning translation-engine brokering system characterizes a set of language-translation engines by associating each engine with values of a set of engine parameters. The system receives a request to translate text or speech input, along with a set of weightings that identify the relative importance of each engine parameter to the translation requester. The system formats the input into a quantifiable engine-agnostic form and performs an optimization procedure that finds the best fit between the source's weightings and the sets of engine parameters. The system directs the input to the best-fitting translation engine, receives the translated output from the selected engine, directs the output to the translation requester, and then determines how well the translated output meets user expectations. This feedback used to update the best-fitting engine's parametric values and to train the system to make more accurate selections in the future.
