  • Patent number: 11731082
Abstract: A method and system for water-priming carbon micropore filter media using negative pressure. The method includes placing dry filter elements in a polymer bag, applying a vacuum of no more than approximately 33 kPa above zero pressure, and heat-sealing the bag using a heat-set bar; submerging, by a consumer, the vacuum-sealed bag with its the filter elements in water; the filters in the vacuum sealed bag are at least partially submerged, puncturing the bag to form one or more small openings in the bag below the water line. Breeching the vacuum causes the water to flow through the openings into the bag and the filter(s) to equalize the pressure between the water and the previously vacuum environment of the plastic bag, causing the surrounding water to quickly flow into the micro-pores of the filter media, thereby priming the carbon filter for use in the gravity-fed water-purification system.

  • Publication number: 20230236819
Abstract: Example computing device that may be implemented to report application status via platform binary tables are disclosed. In response to an upgrade log detected during a BIOS initialization, a platform binary table to a management agent stored in a memory is generated. An application status corresponding with the upgrade log is collected during the BIOS initialization. In response to an operating system initialization, the management agent is launched from the platform binary table to report the application status via the management agent. The upgrade log is removed.

  • Patent number: 11656880
Abstract: A technique for efficient calling of functions on a processor generates an executable program having a function call by analysing an interface for the function that defines an argument expression and an internal value used solely within the function, and an argument declaration defining an argument value to be provided to the function when the program is run. A data structure is generated including the internal value and a resolved argument value derived from the argument expression and the argument value. A single instruction is encoded in the program to utilise the data structure. When the program is executed on a processor, the single instruction causes the processor to load the argument value and internal value from the data structure into registers in the processor, prior to evaluating the function. The function can then be executed without further register loads being performed.

  • Patent number: 11610292
Abstract: Enhancing edges of objects in a thermal image comprises receiving a thermal image and generating a gradient magnitude image comprising a plurality of pixels having associated gradient magnitude values. The gradient magnitude image is partitioned into subregions and gradient magnitude statistics are calculated for each. Mapping parameters are calculated for each of the subregions that equalize and smooth a dynamic range of the corresponding gradient magnitude statistics across the subregions. The mapping parameters calculated for each of the subregions are applied to pixels in the subregions to generate enhanced gradient magnitude values having equalized luminosity and contrast, and a wireframe image is formed therefrom having enhanced edges of objects. The wireframe image is displayed on a display device, wherein the wireframe image appears as a decluttered line drawing where the enhanced edges have increased luminosity and contrast compared to the thermal image to reduce the cognitive load of the user.

  • Publication number: 20220282978
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that track camera motion from image and sensor data in single-camera, low contrast and high-motion systems. Camera motion is estimated through dense visual tracking using image and sensor data. Motion sensor data from a wearable motion sensor worn by a human is used to determine initial camera motion parameters. Image data from a thermal imaging camera outputting low contrast video frames is used for motion tracking. The camera motion in the frame is represented by a translation and a rotation of the camera through an environment. The frames are down-sampled to generate image pyramid of frames of progressively lower resolution. A hierarchical homography optimizing approach is described. A homography is optimized across each resolution level beginning with the lowest resolution frames. A modified translation and rotation displacement of the camera is determined based on the optimized homography.
