  • Patent number: 8510076
Abstract: The sensor module carries one or more sensor element, such as microphones or imaging devices, for detecting events in use. The sensor module has a locator for determining its location and preferably an orientation sensor for determining it location and a transceiver for communicating with other modules in the network or with a base station. The module also has a processor which is adapted such that, in use, the module communicates with other sensor modules and determines whether to operate in a sensing mode to detect events or a controlling mode. In this way a self organizing adaptive network is provided.

Abstract: Hydrogenated pyrido[4,3-b]indoles, pyrido[3,4-b]indoles and azepino[4,5-b]indoles are described. The compounds may bind to and are antagonists of the adrenergic receptor ?2A. The compounds may also bind to and are an antagonist of the adrenergic receptor ?2B; or the compounds are not antagonists of the adrenergic receptor ?2B and the compounds are administered in conjunction with a second agent that reduces, or is expected to reduce, blood pressure in an individual. The compounds may find use in therapy, e.g., to regulate blood glucose level, increase insulin secretion and treat diseases or conditions that are, or are expected to be, responsive to an increase in insulin production. Use of the compounds to treat type 2 diabetes is particularly described.

  • Publication number: 20120131636
Abstract: A method and system for locking down a local machine zone associated with a network browser is provided. Placing the local machine zone in a lockdown mode provides stricter security settings that are applied to active content attempting to publish within a local page open in the network browser. The stricter setting are provided in a new set of registry keys that correspond to the lockdown mode of the local machine zone. The original security settings remain unchanged so that other systems and applications functionality that depends on the original security settings remains unaffected for the local machine zone. A user may also selectively allow active content to render despite the local machine zone being locked down.

  • Patent number: 8150896
Abstract: A database modernization auditing system and method is disclosed. One embodiment comprises a method for loading a legacy data object, transforming the legacy data object into a modern data object according to a rule set, wherein transforming the legacy data object into the modern data object further includes abstracting at least a portion of the legacy data object into semantic information and transforming the semantic information into the modern data object, and generating an audit log entry corresponding to an error that occurs while transforming the semantic information into the modern data object, wherein the audit log entry contains a unique identifier that relates the audit log entry with the legacy data object.

  • Publication number: 20120024773
Abstract: A filter for use in a washing appliance is disclosed. The filter includes an inlet, an outlet, a filter chamber and a mesh strainer placed between the inlet and outlet. The mesh strainer strains water or liquid flowing into the filter as the water flows into the inlet and out of the outlet. The mesh strainer filters out particulate matter from the flow through the filter. The liquid flowing into the filter flows across the mesh to clean the filter and dislodge at least some of the particulate matter trapped in the mesh. The filter chamber includes at least one baffle within it. The baffle divides the filter chamber into an upper portion and lower portion. The particulate matter washed off collects in the lower portion of the filter chamber due to rotational flows created in the filter due to the filter chamber boundaries and the baffles.

  • Patent number: 8005792
Abstract: Versioned metadata allows multiple versions of metadata for a given object to exist concurrently on a system thereby supporting the parallel execution of operations which would otherwise be mutually exclusive. Metadata updates are permitted while other objects maintain access to another version of the metadata through a versioning infrastructure. The versioning infrastructure allows the creation of new versions of metadata, maintains obsolete versions in the system as long as they are being used by any object, and deletes the obsolete versions once they are no longer in use.

  • Patent number: 7996413
Abstract: A database modernization system and method is disclosed. One example embodiment comprises a method for receiving a record stored as a source physical data model, parsing the source physical data model into a source logical data model, wherein the source logical data model includes semantic information from the record, transforming the source logical data model to a destination logical data model independent of a source or a destination record physical implementation, wherein the destination logical data model includes at least a portion of the semantic information from the record, and storing the destination logical data model in a destination physical data model. In this manner, a destination physical data model may be stored in a relational database management system on a per record basis.

  • Publication number: 20110161868
Abstract: An approach is provided that receives a user action directed at a first windowed application that is executing in a windowing operating system. The first windowed application is displayed on a display using a first set of display attributes. In response to receiving the user action, user preferences are retrieved that correspond to the first windowed application. The user preferences reference a second windowed application that runs in the windowed operating system. The second windowed application is displayed on the display using a second set of display attributes. One or more actions corresponding to the second windowed application are identified based on the retrieved user preferences. These identified actions are executed on the second windowed application and result in a change to the second set of display attributes which causes in a change in an appearance of the second windowed application.

  • Patent number: 7698310
Abstract: A system, method, computer program and article of manufacture for sharing metadata among cursors is provided. A metadata object marked as a versioned object can have multiple versions. Program units can share these versions of object metadata as opposed to copying the non-versioned object metadata into their memory. These program units may contain a pointer to an object's metadata but are otherwise void of the metadata information for the object. A locking protocol for the metadata ensures concurrency control and triggers dependency tracking. A locking protocol for the cursors controls cursor dependency status.
