  • Publication number: 20100195694
Abstract: A rack mount assembly measurement tool, for determining physical values including air flow and heat loads, includes a front assembly and a rear duct assembly that are non-intrusively and releasably mounted on the front and rear of such rack mount enclosure. Physical values are sensed at multiple vertical locations to enable a determination of overall and localized heat loads within the enclosure. Front sensor values are collected and wirelessly transmitted from the front assembly to a receiver/processor supported on the rear duct, which generates computed values that are displayed in addition to the sensed values.

  • Patent number: 7660116
Abstract: Rack assemblies and methods for cooling one or more rack-based computer systems, as well as data center configurations that utilize the rack assembly. The rack assembly comprises a rack providing support for multiple columns of heat-generating electronic devices and device fans for moving air from an air inlet side of the rack through the devices and through an air outlet side of the rack. The rack assembly also comprises a unitary door having a support frame spanning the air outlet side of the rack and hingedly coupling the door to a rear vertical edge of the rack. The door includes an air-to-liquid heat exchanger panel spanning an air outlet passage inside the support frame so that substantially all of the air passing through the air outlet must pass through the heat exchanger panel. The air outlet passage has a cross-sectional area that is substantially equal to or greater than the cross-sectional area of the multiple columns of heat-generating devices.

  • Publication number: 20090100951
Abstract: A linear dual actuator for a sitting and/or lying furniture comprising an adjustable section, which is adjusted by means of a pivot shaft (4) furnished with an arm (5). The actuator is of the type comprising a housing (8) with an aperture for the pivot shaft (4), and where the arm reaches into the housing after the actuator is mounted on the pivot shaft. The actuator comprises a spindle nut constructed as a power transmitting sliding element (12) mounted on the spindle (14) driven by an electromotor over a transmission. The spindle nut is secured against rotation in the housing, which can be brought into engagement with the arm for pivoting the pivot shaft. For determining the position of the section the actuator comprises a sliding potentiometer (17) arranged parallel to the spindle and where the spindle nut is directly mechanically connected to the sliding potentiometer. By means of the signal from the sliding potentiometer a position determination of the section is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20080309328
Abstract: Variations in the lift-off separation between a probe and the surface of a structure to be tested often mask the detection of defects in the structure. A method and apparatus for automatically classifying and compensating for variations in the lift-off is described. A reference signal at a known lift-off may be weighted by a corresponding calculated ratio parameter and subtracted from a test signal to compensate for lift-off. A number of reference signals are preferably obtained and the largest magnitude gradient for each reference signal is preferably determined. The largest magnitude gradient for subsequent test signals is also obtained and the corresponding reference signal with the closest largest magnitude gradient to the test signal is identified and the corresponding reference signal is selected in the related compensation procedure. Such a method has been found to restore the signal such that lift-off is removed and defects are easily identified.
