  • Patent number: 10689930
Abstract: A dual-action hydraulically operable anchor includes a hydraulic anchor body for positioning a whipstock in a wellbore. A split clamp retains an upper sub and the hydraulic anchor body. A lower cap guides the hydraulic anchor within the wellbore. The floating mandrel transmits a hydraulic fluid into the fixed housing, transmitting compressive force from the upper hydraulic piston or from mechanical force applied to the whipstock above and adjoining the hydraulic anchor. The lower hydraulic piston operates along the floating mandrel using transmitted hydraulic fluid. A T-slot adapter and a slip move from a flush position along the fixed housing to an extended position along the fixed housing such that the slip firmly engages the wellbore to hold the hydraulic anchor and the whipstock in a fixed position for providing a path for lateral drilling outside the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 10547938
Abstract: A method of transferring audio signals from an analog audio source to an audio sink, where the audio sink has a multiple-pin connector. A cable is coupled to the audio source and to the multiple-pin connector of the audio sink, where the cable is constructed and arranged to carry audio signals. The audio sink detects a return signal provided to the audio sink over the cable, where the audio sink is configured to interpret the receipt of a return signal as indicating that an audio source is operably connected to the audio sink by the cable. Responsive to this detecting, the audio sink receives audio signals from the audio source over the cable.

The bi-mill provides increase debris removal and cutting surfaces and includes an assembly having a lead mill and a follow mill and attaches to the wellbore whipstock. The lead mill further includes fluid passageways leading from the lead mill and exiting the nose of the lead mill. Debris removal channels channel milled debris away from the lead mill and in the direction of the follow mill form in a helical configuration for guiding debris milled by lead mill inserts along the debris removal channels. The lead mill and follow mill continue milling through the wellbore casing and into the underground rock formation a distance sufficient to initiate the preplanned drilling path.

  • Publication number: 20190376663
Abstract: A steerable illumination fixtures include an emitting source and a refractive optical system that steers an emitted beam by relative translation of the emitting source against the optical system. The light emitting source may be placed along an optical axis of one or more lenses to produce an output beam along that axis, or translated in-plane (orthogonal to the optical axis) relative to the lenses to produce a steered beam. The optical system may include refractive lenses and in some embodiments mixing channels and/or one or more baffles with apertures. The design is typically optimized to produce a round, uniform beam that retains approximately the same power level and beam width as it is steered. It is beneficial, but not required, that a second lens have a diameter equal to or larger than a first lens. The lenses may be configured so that the effective focal plane of the two lenses together is located approximately at the plane of the light emitting source.

  • Patent number: 10487779
Abstract: A device and method for preventing and removing piston deposit build-up on a piston cylinder assembly of an engine, including a diesel engine, is disclosed. A cylinder having an inner sleeve for receiving a piston, has a piston scraping ring positioned on the cylinder sleeve. The piston scraping ring includes an inner surface, and has a curved or hook shaped feature on its inner surface. The curved or hook shaped feature, named the ‘power groove’ for the purposes of this application, allows for reduced wear between the piston rings and the cylinder sleeve by reducing the pressure on the piston rings by expanding and reversing the flow of combustion gases. Additionally, this reversal of the combustion gases results in a decrease in blow-by gases passing between the piston rings and cylinder sleeve thereby improving sealing between the piston and the cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20190320958
Abstract: A tissue oximetry device utilizes at least three or at least four different wavelengths of light for collection of reflectance data where the different wavelengths are longer than 730 nanometers. The three or four wavelengths are utilized to generate a range of reflectance data suited for accurate determination of oxygenated hemoglobin and deoxygenated hemoglobin concentrations. The relatively long wavelengths decrease optical interference from certain dyes, particularly methylene blue and PVPI, which may be present on tissue being analyzed for viability and further enhance the generation of accurate reflectance data. The wavelengths are 760 nanometers, 810 nanometers, and 850 nanometers, or 760 nanometers, 810 nanometers, 850 nanometers, and 900 nanometers.
