  • Patent number: 6985934
Abstract: The invention presented here is a method and system for providing rich media content over a computer network. In accordance with the invention, a server on a physical or wireless computer network polls the software, hardware, or appliance of an end user on the network, for the availability of software and/or hardware necessary for the display of rich media content. This polling is transparent to the end user and requires no action on the part of the end user. Based on the client's response, the server sends an appropriately formatted version of the rich media file. The user is not necessarily aware that this transfer is taking place, as it is taking place in the background, while the user is performing other tasks or viewing content other than that which is being transferred. Once the rich media has been transferred in its entirety and stored, or cached, in the local memory of the client, the rich media content is displayed automatically in a designated display area.

  • Publication number: 20050133951
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for making a dimensionally stable wood-thermoplastic composite material composed of a wood component and a thermoplastic component comprising the steps of forming a wood-thermoplastic mass at a temperature above the melting temperature of the thermoplastic component. The mass is then passed through a converging die to form a shaped extrudate profile having a cross sectional shape wherein at least a part of the converging die is maintained at a substantially higher temperature than that of the mass. The profile is then fed through a low friction thermally insulating land section, the land section having the substantially the same cross sectional shape as the exit end of the converging die. The profile is then quenched in a non-oxidizing environment to form a substantially dimensionally stable outer shell around the profile, the shell having a temperature below the melting temperature of the thermoplastic component.

  • Publication number: 20040162755
Abstract: A personal rapid transport system comprising guideways (20) and automated transportation pods (28) containing wireless computer communications (44) allows passengers to undertake transactions with airline, airport and security staff while traveling from intermodal centers (16) directly to aircraft boarding gates (38). The system transports checked bags to the gate and, with the possible exception of security screening, mostly eliminates the need for standing in line and walking long distances. The system issues boarding passes and baggage tags to passengers in the transportation pods, informs them of the waiting time until boarding and offers them their option of waiting areas. The system can ensure passengers arrive at boarding gates at their individually assigned boarding times thus virtually eliminating waiting at the gate.

  • Patent number: 6374579
Abstract: The design comprising bag (36) formed with deep side gussets (42, 44). It has a body portion and a neck. The front face, rear face and gussets are heat welded together at the base of the bag. At the neck (56) the front face is welded to the front sheets of the gussets and the rear face is welded to the rear sheets of the gussets so that the gusset can open at these parts. At the free ends of the neck (66) the front face, rear face and gussets are heat welded together to be held together when the bag is opened.

  • Patent number: 6174396
Abstract: A trim panel having an integral handle is made using a subassembly comprising a structural substrate that has a handle hole and a handle frame that spans the handle hole. The subassembly is mounted on a pneumatic buck and a sheet of pliable and stretchable expanded vinyl plastic is then draped over the subassembly to form a decorative cover for the trim panel. The plastic sheet is then vacuum drawn against the top of the subassembly and partially around the handle frame. Draped portions of the plastic sheet between the handle frame and the handle hole, are then cut and trimmed, to complete the wrapping of the handle frame and the edge of the handle hole. The cut ends of the draped portions wrapped around the handle frame are tucked in a longitudinal slot in the underside of the handle frame.

  • Patent number: 5932522
Abstract: A bandstop filter contains one or more resonant circuits connected by interconnecting transmission lines. The resonant circuits each have a transmission line connected between two capacitors. One capacitor is connected to the interconnecting transmission line and the other capacitor is connected to ground. The resonant circuits may have a helical coil of superconducting materials as the transmission line. The capacitors may be in the form of screws, which can be inserted into or removed from the center of the helix. The helix may be formed as a discrete structure and supported by a low-loss material within a housing.
