  • Patent number: 9467089
Abstract: A solar concentrator comprises a pair of concentric reflectors having a spindle toroid geometry for focusing the collected solar radiation into a ring-shaped focal area, as opposed to the “point” or “line” focus of prior art configurations. In a preferred embodiment, each reflector is formed of a plurality of curved petals that are disposed in a contiguous, keystone arrangement that requires no additional fixturing to hold the petals in place. Such an arrangement reduces the weight, complexity and cost of the final solar concentrator structure.

  • Patent number: 9439164
Abstract: The claimed technology provides a new method and process for locating and sharing information regarding the location of checked-in luggage while traveling. As part of the claimed technology, a GSM device is placed into luggage to be checked in by the traveler at the airline counter. A mobile device such as a phone or tablet lets the traveler know that their luggage has arrived in sync with the air flight. If the luggage has not arrived, the claimed technology notifies both traveler and airline of the airport location of the luggage, and proactively triggers the airline to coordinate with the passenger for delivery of the luggage.

  • Publication number: 20160232185
Abstract: Examples of a no rollback threshold for an audit trail are disclosed. In one example implementation according to aspects of the present disclosure, a method may include processing, by a computing system, a database transaction, and determining, by the computing system, whether a transaction span of the transaction exceeds a no rollback threshold for an audit trail. The method may include, in response to determining that the transaction span exceeds the no rollback threshold, converting, by the computing system, the transaction into a no rollback transaction. Additionally, the method may include, in response to determining that the transaction span exceeds no rollback threshold, abandoning, by the computing system, the transaction if an error is encountered during the processing the transaction.

  • Patent number: 9362962
Abstract: In a high-impedance communications interface, driver energy consumption is proportional to the number of signal transitions. For signals having three or more distinct levels, it is possible for a signal driver to salvage energy from some downward signal transitions and reuse it on some subsequent upward signal transitions. To facilitate this energy-conserving behavior, communication is performed using group signaling over sets of wires using a vector signaling code, with the design and use of the vector signaling code insuring that energy availability is balanced with energy demand.

  • Publication number: 20150370676
Abstract: Conventional methods using signal test patterns to identify wiring errors are difficult to apply to interfaces encoding information as signal state transitions rather than directly as signal states. A system utilizing excitation of wires with selected transition coded patterns and evaluation of received results is described to identify failed wire connections. This approach may be advantageously used to provide fault detection and redundant path selection in systems incorporating stacked chip interconnections using Through Silicon Vias.
