Patent number: 12539420Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to closed loop deep brain stimulation based on inferred sleep stage from physiological data using machine learning classifiers. Some embodiments, for example, may use subthalamic nucleus (STN) deep brain stimulation (DBS) to treat advanced Parkinson's Disease motor symptoms and improve sleep by identifying sleep stages commensurate with clinician-scored polysomnography (PSG). The DBS may be adapted to include a novel artificial neural network (ANN) that triggers targeted stimulation in response to inferred sleep state from STN local field potentials (LFPs) recorded from implanted DBS electrodes. A feedforward neural network can be trained to prospectively identify sleep stage with PSG-level accuracy. In some embodiments, the machine learning model stored within the DBS may also adapt stimulation during specific sleep stages to treat targeted sleep deficits.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2019Date of Patent: February 3, 2026Assignee: The Regents of the University of Colorado, a body corporateInventors: Joel Zylberberg, Elijah Christensen, John Thompson, Aviva Abosch

Publication number: 20250370927Abstract: A processor having a functional slice architecture is divided into a plurality of functional units (“tiles”) organized into a plurality of slices. Each slice is configured to perform specific functions within the processor, which may include memory slices (MEM) for storing operand data, and arithmetic logic slices for performing operations on received operand data. The tiles of the processor are configured to stream operand data across a first dimension, and receive instructions across a second dimension orthogonal to the first dimension. The timing of data and instruction flows are configured such that corresponding data and instructions are received at each tile with a predetermined temporal relationship, allowing operand data to be transmitted between the slices of the processor without any accompanying metadata.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2025Publication date: December 4, 2025Inventors: Jonathan Alexander Ross, Dennis Charles Abts, John Thompson, Gregory M. Publication number: 20250249619Abstract: Described herein are examples of a perforating device for perforating a textile material, such as carpet or textile underlayment. In an example, the perforating device includes a multi-blade assembly rotationally driven by a motor. The blade assembly can be coupled to a rotary shaft such that the blades rotate with the shaft. The blades can include alternating teeth and gaps on their outer edges to create a plurality of parallel perforated cuts. Spacers can be positioned between the blades to separate them a predetermined distance. An anvil can be positioned below and adjacent the blade edges such that the teeth of the blades touch or nearly touch the anvil surface. The perforating cuts produce a textile that can be customized in terms of its size and shape at an installation site by hand, and without the need for any specialized tools or equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2025Publication date: August 7, 2025Inventors: John Thompson, Kelsey Finn, Samuel Thompson
