  • Publication number: 20160208587
Abstract: An externally-oriented internally-corrected perforating gun system and method for accurate perforation in a deviated wellbore is disclosed. The system/method includes a gun string assembly (GSA) deployed in a wellbore with an external protuberance member (EPM) and an internal pivot support (IPS). With the EPM oriented to the high side of the wellbore, the center of mass of the GSA positions the GSA at the lower side of the wellbore surface. The IPS is attached to internal gun components such end plate, charge holder tube, detonating cord or charge case. The charges inside the charge holder tube move with the gravitational vector about the IPS and point more accurately in the desired direction for perforating. The external orientation of the EPM along with limited internal swing about the IPS provide for an accurate orientation of the charges that results in efficient and effective perforating through a hydrocarbon formation.

  • Publication number: 20160211997
Abstract: A data processing apparatus maps input symbols to be communicated onto a predetermined number of sub-carrier signals of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) symbol. The data processor includes an interleaver memory which reads-in the predetermined number of data symbols for mapping onto the OFDM sub-carrier signals. The interleaver memory reads-out the data symbols on to the OFDM sub-carriers to effect the mapping, the read-out being in a different order than the read-in, the order being determined from a set of addresses, with the effect that the data symbols are interleaved on to the sub-carrier signals. The set of addresses are generated from an address generator which comprises a linear feedback shift register and a permutation circuit.

  • Publication number: 20160212033
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for initiation, use, access, and control of functionality of a network. In one aspect, the systems and methods can be utilized to generate information defining signaling or control performance and operational characteristics associated with the functionality in a variety of network environments. In another aspect, based on such information, adaptive signaling can be utilized to monitor, analyze and detect specific signaling signatures associated with the functionality. Managing signaling or control messages in response to information collected by monitoring and analyzing the adaptive signaling permits originating or requesting the functionality without conventional operation of a network component.

  • Publication number: 20160212340
Abstract: An optical device is disclosed. The optical device may generate light for projection into a user's eye. The optical device may have a switch connected to an eyecup. When the eyecup is pressed against the user's face, the switch may be actuated, signaling the optical device to generate light for projection into a user's eye. When the eyecup is not pressed against the user's face, the switch may be unactuated, signaling the optical device to cease to generate light for projection into a user's eye. Various electronics of the optical device may remain active, for example, a controller may continue to generate an image for representation by the generated light, but the optical device may refrain from generating the light, such as by a display. In this manner, inadvertent light leakage may be ameliorated, and power consumption by the optical device lessened when the eyecup is not depressed.
