  • Patent number: 7424444
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically manufacturing a computer. An order is received from a customer. A manufacturing plant assembles together the hardware and software components from stores specified by the order, and loads the software packages onto the computer. A Web page is provided for the customer to specify any software modifications required. Those modifications are recorded as auto-modification files. The auto-modification files and the order details are checked against each other and the manufacturer's current capabilities for consistency by a validation unit. Each auto-modification file in turn is called by the manufacturing control unit, which determines the configuration data corresponding thereto and enters that configuration data into the computer as the software packages are being loaded.

  • Publication number: 20080071311
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sealing a puncture or incision formed percutaneously in tissue separating two internal portions of the body of a living being with an anchor, a sealing plug and a filament connecting the anchor and sealing plug. The method and apparatus provide for a tamping device that is coilable in some configurations and stiff and straight in other configurations. The coilable tamping device may also automatically tamp the sealing plug when the apparatus is withdrawn from the puncture site. • Publication number: 20080021555
Abstract: A vertebral implant for insertion into a patient includes first and second end members that include recesses for engaging a spacer member and a distractor. The end plates include a bone contact surface and an oppositely facing surface. A peripheral surface extends around a perimeter of the end members. The recesses may extend inward from the oppositely facing surfaces. Further, the recesses may extend inward from the peripheral surfaces. The recesses for engaging the spacer member and distractor may be separate from each other or may intersect one another. A spacer may engage the end plates to establish a desired vertebral spacing. The spacer may be positioned between the implants after a desired distraction is obtained with a distractor that engages the end plates.

  • Publication number: 20080020146
Abstract: The present invention generally comprises a diffuser plate for a PECVD chamber. The diffuser plate comprises a plurality of hollow cathode cavities. The edge of the diffuser plate that will reside closest to a slit valve within a processing chamber may have the shape and/or size of the hollow cathode cavities adjusted to compensate for the proximity to the slit valve. By adjusting the shape and/or size of the hollow cathode cavities closest to the slit valve, the diffuser plate may permit a uniform plasma distribution across the processing chamber and thus, a uniform film thickness upon a substrate during a PECVD process.

  • Publication number: 20080015448
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for evaluating biological materials for the diagnosis of disease, such as gland abnormalities, and the cancerous and precancerous conditions. Nonlinear optical microscopy techniques, such as MP microscopy and harmonic generation microscopy, are used to generate high resolution, three dimensional images of a test tissue, such as a biopsy tissue sample and tissue in whole organisms, that are analyzed, optionally in combination, to detect, identify and characterize tumor-associated collagen signatures. The presence, abundance and extent of histological features and structural motifs comprising tumor-associated collagen signatures may be directly and accurately correlated with the onset and progression of cancer, such as breast cancer. The present methods are capable of providing an accurate and selective diagnosis of cancer, and provide diagnostic information complementary to conventional diagnostic methods.

  • Publication number: 20070285454
Abstract: The present invention provides inkjet print nozzle calibration systems and methods for calibrating an inkjet print nozzle. The systems may include an inkjet print nozzle adapted to dispense ink onto a substrate in response to a firing pulse voltage, a light source adapted to illuminate the dispensed ink, an imaging system adapted to measure a transmittance of light through the dispensed ink, and a controller adapted to controllably adjust the inkjet print nozzle based on the measured light transmittance. The methods may include dispensing ink onto a surface with an inkjet print nozzle set at a firing pulse voltage, measuring a light transmittance characteristic of the dispensed ink, determining a volume of ink dispensed based on the transmittance characteristic, and adjusting a fire pulse voltage of the inkjet print nozzle based on a difference between the determined volume of ink dispensed and an expected volume level of ink dispensed.

  • Publication number: 20070264443
Abstract: It has been discovered that a parasitic plasma problem which has existed with respect to the incoming plasma source gases to an processing chamber plasma generation system for PECVD thin film deposition can be avoided. The stability of a parasitic plasma is avoided by increasing the pressure in a conduit through which the plasma source gases flow. While avoidance of formation of a parasitic plasma in plasma source gas conduits leading to the processing chamber plasma generation system may be achieved by inserting a fixed restrictor in a conduit through which the plasma source gases flow, use of a variable surface restrictor in the conduit enables not only avoidance of the formation of a parasitic plasma in incoming plasma source gases, but also easier cleaning of the processing chamber plasma generation system when a remotely generated plasma is used for such cleaning.
