  • Publication number: 20230067138
Abstract: An underwater sound generation device may be used for effective control of algae and other microorganisms in ponds and lakes. The sound projector may comprise a thermoacoustic sound transducer and an electronic unit for controlling the operation of the projector. The thermoacoustic projector may include a freestanding carbon nanotube (CNT) film encapsulated between two vibrating plates. The inert gas filled thin acoustical cavity provides a piston-type displacement of the plates and supports a high-temperature operation. A power supply driver, controlling the operation of the sound radiating system, may include a pulse generator, high-power switch amplifier, and a cable, connecting the projector with an electronic driver. The sound control system may provide an omnidirectional sound pressure level in a wide frequency range to affect the algae growth ecosystem over large distances.

  • Publication number: 20220336130
Abstract: Described herein are concepts, system and techniques which provide a means to construct robust high-field superconducting magnets using simple fabrication techniques and modular components that scale well toward commercialization. The resulting magnet assembly—which utilizes non-insulated, high temperature superconducting tapes (HTS) and provides for optimized coolant pathways—is inherently strong structurally, which enables maximum utilization of the high magnetic fields available with HTS technology. In addition, the concepts described herein provide for control of quench-induced current distributions within the tape stack and surrounding superstructure to safely dissipate quench energy, while at the same time obtaining acceptable magnet charge time. The net result is a structurally and thermally robust, high-field magnet assembly that is passively protected against quench fault conditions.

  • Patent number: 11402458
Abstract: Mechanisms compressive sampling to detect direction of arrival (DoA) of a signal of interest (SoI), comprising: in each of a plurality of receiver paths, receiving the SoI and producing a received signal using an antenna; and using a modulator to: receive a modulator input signal (MIS) based on the received signal produced by the antenna in the path; modulate the MIS at multiple points in time (MPIT) based on different ones of a plurality of pseudo-random numbers; and produce a plurality of modulated output signals in response to the modulating of the MIS at the MPIT; summing across the receiver paths the one of the modulated output signals produced by each of the receiver paths for each of the MPIT, to produce a plurality of sum signals each corresponding to one of the MPIT; and performing a compressed sensing recovery algorithm to recover the DoA of the SoI.

  • Patent number: 11267136
Abstract: A system (100) for handling sheets of flexible material comprises: a plurality of releasable connectors (20) supported on a main carrier (110). The releasable connectors (20) are individually addressable so that when actuated a connector lifts or releases a sheet of flexible material. One or more end adjustment means is provided to vary at least one of: the orientation and/or the location of the connectors (20), with respect to a surface defined in three dimensions, such that in use the sheet of flexible material is placed in a precise user selected position on the three dimensional surface without the material creasing or wrinkling. An advantage of the present invention is that previously actuators were able to orient grippers to be normal to the surface of a cylinder; whereas the provision of parallel, flexible strips enables active surfaces to be positioned normal to the surface of complex surface, such as that defined by a cone.

Abstract: An affiliate linking system may create affiliate video data that causes a clickable graphical object to be rendered overlaid on video content. The clickable graphical object may include an affiliate link that when accessed, gains credit for a lead generated by the act of accessing the computing resource indicated by the link. The clickable graphical object may be synchronized to a timeframe within the video to coincide with actions or objects within the video. The affiliate video data that causes video content to be overlaid with an affiliate layer can be shared via social media, email, text, or other communication methods.

  • Publication number: 20220053081
Abstract: Technologies disclosed herein are directed to enforcing blocking functionality on a mobile device (e.g., a mobile device within a vehicle). The mobile device receives a request to disable a blocking of a user interaction with one or more functions of the mobile device. The mobile device prompts a capture of an image by a camera of the mobile device. The mobile device determines whether the image is captured from a passenger space in the vehicle. Once so determined, the mobile device disables the blocking of the user interaction with the one or more functions of the mobile device.
