Patent number: 10506613Abstract: A method and rate controlling node (206) for providing a recommended data rate for a communication i of data on a radio channel between a data sending node (200) and a data receiving node (202) over a shared radio link (204). The rate controlling node (206) determines a fair data rate Ri for the data communication based on a current load on the shared radio link (204), and also determines a maximum flow data rate Rmax,i for the data communication i a highest possible data rate that the data sending node (200) is able to use in the data communication. The rate controlling node (206) then signals (2:5) a recommended data rate for the data communication i as a minimum of the determined fair data rate Ri and the determined maximum flow data rate Rmax,i to the data sending node (200).Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2015Date of Patent: December 10, 2019Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Ylva Timner, Jonas Pettersson

Publication number: 20190045524Abstract: There is provided a method and corresponding device for transmitting a congestion indication to a group of wireless communication devices for synchronized triggering of backoff procedures in the wireless communication devices. A purpose of the synchronized triggering of the backoff procedures may be to enable deferring, in each of the wireless communication devices, transmission of scheduling request(s) until one or more backoff procedures in the considered wireless device is completed. In this way, the proposed technology provides efficient load control related to scheduling requests and/or enables a reduction of the average response time between scheduling request and grant.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2016Publication date: February 7, 2019Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventor: Jonas PETTERSSON

Patent number: 9408107Abstract: In a multi-access system, an access selection principle is achieved by selecting a signal strength threshold level (130-133) based on a determined load level (ULOCAL) in a first access network. A new user in an area commonly covered by more than one access network attempts to allocate to the first access network if an experienced signal strength exceeds the signal strength threshold level (130-133). Communication utility can preferably be maximized or at least be taken into account by using suitable load level dependencies. By increasing the threshold when the load level approaches the capacity limit, a completely filled first access network is avoided. This gives an opportunity to let particularly well-suited users still have access to the first access network. At the same time, since the preferred access is decided before the actual access attempt, control signalling can be significantly reduced, even at very high traffic loads.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2013Date of Patent: August 2, 2016Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Mikael Prytz, Anders Furuskär, Jonas Pettersson, Arne Simonsson, Harald Kallin

Patent number: 9191895Abstract: A method for use in a cellular system with a controlling node and user terminals, UEs. In the system, UEs can assume one of at least two states, a non-listening state, i.e. a state during which a UE does not listen for data from its controlling node, and a listening state, an “on duration” state. According to the method a UE in the system is able to alternate between said two states according to a certain scheme, the scheme according to which a UE in the system alternates between said two states being dependent on whether or not data units which are transmitted between the UE and its controlling node are received entirely and correctly within an initially allocated resource for each data unit.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2014Date of Patent: November 17, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Ghyslain Pelletier, Jonas Pettersson, Kristofer Sandlund, Per Johan Torsner

Patent number: 9113385Abstract: The invention relates to a method in a source radio base station (14) for enabling a handover of a connection to a user equipment (13) from a source cell (11) to a target cell (17). The source radio base station (14) serves the source cell (11) and is comprised in a radio communications network (100). The source radio base station receives (802) at least a first segment of a measurement report from the user equipment (13), which measurement report indicates received signal power of signals of neighboring cells. The source radio base station then determines (803) a transmission time of the segment of the measurement report and compares (804) the transmission time with a predefined time threshold value. When the transmission time has exceeded the time threshold value, the source radio base station determines (806) whether to perform the handover based on the at least first segment of the measurement report.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2009Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Jonas Pettersson, Kristofer Sandlund, Ylva Timner, Min Wang, Mats Wernersson

Patent number: 8532009Abstract: A method for use in a cellular system with at least one controlling node, eNodeB, which controls user terminals, UEs, in a cell. According to the method, a UE can be in one of at least two different states, an idle state, a DRX state, and an “on duration” state.
