  • Patent number: 10282774
Abstract: A chain of establishments provides an online ordering system that allows a customer to order virtual items or services from an online menu. When an order is placed, the customer receives an order code that may then be verified at one of many establishment locations at one of many times to initiate order fulfillment. When the order code is verified at a particular restaurant, a point-of-service (POS) system maps the virtual items associated with the order to actual, in-stock items or services that are available at the particular establishment. The order may then be fulfilled and provided to the customer. One advantage of the disclosed technique is that the customer may pickup the order from any desired establishment location, and is not required to select a particular location when the order is placed. Consequently, the customer is provided with streamlined and flexible order placement and fulfillment experience.

  • Patent number: 10279681
Abstract: A vehicle comprises a system for aiding driver control of the vehicle when the vehicle is wading in a body of water, the system comprising a measurement apparatus for determining a measured depth of water in which the vehicle is wading. The measurement apparatus is positioned and arranged relative to the vehicle such that the measured depth is indicative of the depth of water in a first measurement region relative to the actual vehicle. The processor is coupled to the measurement apparatus and is configured to calculate an estimated water depth in dependence upon the measured depth and in dependence upon the vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 10278477
Abstract: A lip balm applicator product comprises upper and lower portions that are connectable together to define the applicator product being of a substantially spherical shape. A support platform is located in the lower portion and accommodates a quantity of lip balm having an arcuate surface. A lip balm comprises a composition of waxes and oils in solid form and formed to have an arcuate surface. The composition is formed to have the arcuate surface using a hot pour process. A method of manufacturing a lip balm comprises providing a receptacle having a concave arcuate surface. A lip balm material in a heated, liquefied phase is poured into the receptacle. Once poured, the heated, liquefied phase is allowed to solidify such that a surface of the solidified lip balm material has an arcuate configuration that corresponds to the concave arcuate surface of the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 10283220
Abstract: A system and method of coordinated motion among heterogeneous devices includes a medical device with one or more movable elements and one or more processors. Any of the processors uses a shared interface to access services. The medical device requests a movement token from a token service through the shared interface, receive the movement token from the token service, exchange configuration data, kinematic data, or planned motion data through the shared interface, plan a first motion for a first movable element of the movable elements based on the movement token and the configuration data, the kinematic data, or the planned motion data, and execute the first motion. In some embodiments, the movement token is selected from a group consisting of an exclusive-motion token, a master follow-me token, a slave follow-me token, a master collision-avoidance token, a slave collision-avoidance token, and a passive collision-avoidance token.

  • Patent number: 10282305
Abstract: Selective purging of entries of structures associated with address translation. A request to purge entries of a structure associated with address translation is obtained. Based on obtaining the request, a determination is made as to whether selective purging of the structure associated with address translation is to be performed. Based on determining that selective purging is to be performed, one or more entries of the structure associated with address translation are purged. The selectively purging includes clearing the one or more entries of the structure associated with address translation for a host of the computing environment and leaving one or more entries of one or more guest operating systems in the structure associated with address translation. • Patent number: 10282255
Abstract: A synchronization engine detects a notification of a change to a file. It determines whether an application associated with the file has indicated that the file is to be synchronized by the application. If so, the changes to the file are synchronized between a cloud-based storage system and a local disk by the application. Collaborative metadata, associated with the synchronized file, is updated to indicate a state of a copy of the file on the local disk and a copy of the file in the cloud-based storage system. The collaborative metadata is stored by the synchronization engine.

  • Patent number: 10284305
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed allowing for spatially separated nodes to transmit data to a single remote master receiver node in a synchronized way. Slave nodes can send acoustic data so that it travels through water and arrives at the master node exactly timed so that the data bit appears in a predetermined time slot. The next time slot could be a data bit coming from another remote or slave node in another direction and at a different distance. This can be repeated for many nodes and the incoming bits will be received in a time division multiplexed fashion at the receiver or master node. The senders address and bit meaning are implicit due to the time slot in which they arrive. The assumption is that all nodes have accurate synchronized time as well as the ability to accurately estimate sound travel time between itself and any master node.

  • Patent number: 10282632
Abstract: A system and/or method configured to determine a sample frame order for analyzing a video. The video may have multiple frames ordered in a sequence from a beginning to an end. A first sample frame order for analyzing the video may be determined. Determining the first sample frame order may include determining an initial frame for a first iteration, and determining secondary frames for a second iteration. Determining the initial frame and the secondary frames may be based on a function of frame position in the sequence of frames. The initial frame may be associated with a first sample position, and the secondary frames may be associated with secondary sample positions in the sample frame order. A first feature of the video may be determined based on an analysis of the frames in the video performed on the frames in the first sample frame order.

  • Patent number: 10282795
Abstract: A streams platform is used. Multiple streams of electricity usage data are received, each from an electrical meter providing periodic updates to electrical usage for devices connected to the electrical meter. Weather information is received corresponding to locations where the electrical meters are. Real-time predictive modeling of electricity demand is performed based on the received multiple streams of electricity usage data and the received weather information, at least by performing: updating a state space model for electrical load curves using the usage data from the streams and the weather, wherein the updating uses current load observations for the multiple streams for a current time period; and creating forecast(s) for the electricity demand. The forecast(s) of the electricity demand are output. Appliance-level predictions may be made and used, and substitution effects and load management functions may be performed.
