The odor-eliminating pad is constructed out of multiple polyester layers over an activated-carbon layer. Preferably, one of the polyester layers is coated with an adhesive allowing the odor-eliminating pad to be removably attached to a surface. The odor-eliminating pad may be scented or unscented. The method of construction includes preparing both the activated-carbon layer, the polyester layers, as well as one or more adhesives for bonding the layers together, all before ultrasonically welding them together.

The filter assembly may be disposed so as to be in a flow stream of the water, as the water is poured out of the container body through an outlet of the system, so that the stream of water exiting through the outlet is simultaneously filtered as it is poured from the container body. The system may further include a flow control device (e.g., a valve, grating, screen, etc.) disposed proximate (e.g., in or over) the outlet to regulate an exit flow rate of water being poured through the outlet.
