Publication number: 20180159621Abstract: Particular embodiments use the segmented bandwidth in downstream channels and upstream channels to manage a narrowcast service for subscribers. Particular embodiments include a channel manager that can process the signal from the headend to down-convert and filter narrowcast services that are sent in one or more of the downstream channels. Also, in the upstream direction, the channel manager can up-convert and stack narrowcast signals for sending to the headend. Further, in one embodiment, the narrowcast service may be provided using visible light communication (e.g., Li-Fi). Using visible light communication may overcome the last connection restrictions described in the background, such as end to end optical connections may be used. Further, using visible light communication may not interfere with other Wi-Fi links in the subscriber premises, such as existing MoCA connections, and may actually enhance the service at the subscriber premises.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2016Publication date: June 7, 2018Inventors: Joaquin Beas Bujanos, Carlos Dominguez Jimenez, Jose Luis Lopez

Publication number: 20160149446Abstract: The patent entitled “Improvements to rotating magnetic field machines” relates to changes to the structures of the stator and of the inductor system of conventional rotating magnetic field machines. The first change consists of the fact that the stator poles are axial, so that there are no slots between the shoes thereof in the air gap, the windings are in the axial portion and are prefabricated coils, eliminating power loss, electromagnetic and mechanical vibration, electromagnetic emissions, and start-up torque, with a much lower copper content. The second change concerns the inductor system, which is made up of multiple cores, with a shared collector and yoke, which greatly reduces the amount of copper needed, with external dimensions similar to those of the conventional electromagnet that they replace in these machines or in any other sphere of use, for the same number of amperes per turn. It may be used in all rotating field machines.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2014Publication date: May 26, 2016Inventors: Arturo PÉREZ RODRÍGUEZ, Jose Luis LOPEZ MARTIN

Publication number: 20150135400Abstract: The invention relates to a necktie that has been specially designed to display two different appearances depending on how it is tied, i.e. either in the form of a traditional necktie or as a cravate. Moreover, the necktie can optionally display an additional two appearances depending on the face selected to be on display. The necktie comprises at least two parts obtained from fabrics of different colours, patterns and fabric types, such that, when worn, the necktie can display at least two different appearances, namely: one in which the front apron is visible and prominent; and another in which the rear apron is positioned in front of the front apron and is therefore more prominent, such that the two aprons with different appearances are both on display and the appearance of the knot matches that of the apron that is pulled up during tying. The different fabrics are visible at the neck and the lengths of the different aprons at the connection thereof are dependent on the appearance of the knot.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2013Publication date: May 21, 2015Applicant: MORLO INVERSIONES S.L.Inventor: Jose Luis Lopez Perez

Publication number: 20150084472Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical power motor-generator excited by magnetic transference, and which further comprises a stator (1) and a rotor (2) with an external core (3) stationary relative to the stator and rotor, said external core (3) comprising: an outer axial part, or axial armature (6) joined to the stator (1), an inner part that communicates through an air gap (4) with the rotor (2), a third part, disk (8), that joins the other two parts, where the rotor does not have any excitation coils, and hence no rings or collector brushes. The outer core (3) has an axial permanent magnet (12) and permanent magnets (10) on the outer axial part (6) thereof, and electromagnets (11) in the other two parts or on the disk (8). The rotor does not have brushes to create a magnetic field, which is created by the magnets and coils of the outer core (3), the magnetic flow transmitting the induction flow to the rotating rotor, through an air gap, thus dispensing with rings and collector brushes.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2013Publication date: March 26, 2015Inventors: Arturo Perez Rodriguez, Jose Luis Lopez Martin

Patent number: 8723915Abstract: An audio/video communication system displays the status of participants in a video chat session. The system includes multiple video chat capable (VCC) information handling systems (IHSs) that display video images of the participants. In this manner, each user may see the user's own video image as well as the video images of other users in the video chat session. When a user speaks, that user's VCC IHS detects audio, thus designating a speaker participant. This user's VCC IHS includes a gaze direction detector that determines at which particular user video image the user gazes, thus determining a target participant. The VCC IHS sends speaker participant ID information and target participant ID information to other VCC IHSs in the video chat session. In response, the other VCC IHSs display an indicator that designates one user video image as the speaker participant and another user video image as the target participant.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2010Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Luis A Garcia, Jose Luis Lopez, Jorge A Rasillo, Francisco J Alanis, Maria Garza, Edward O Cantu

Patent number: 8679064Abstract: In various embodiments, a trocar cannula may be configured for insertion into an eye to facilitate insertion and removal of instruments during surgery. The cannula may be affixed to an overcap (to inhibit rotation of the overcap relative to the cannula) that includes a seal. In some embodiments, the seal may be overmolded into the overcap or may include a wafer that is fixed between the cannula and the overcap to inhibit rotation relative to the cannula and the overcap. In some embodiments, the cannula and overcap may snap together through a tab/slot interface in a permanent fashion such that the cannula and overcap may not be separated without damaging the cannula or overcap. In some embodiments, a vent cannula may be receivable in the slit of the seal for allowing fluids to vent from the eye through the cannula (which may include an indentation to frictionally engage the vent).Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2012Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Alcon Research, Ltd.Inventors: Jose Luis Lopez, Michael M. Patent number: 8590461Abstract: Devices to shift the stops (8) of rail vehicle bodies or coaches with bogies on curves and rail vehicle body with bogies. The devices are provided in an interior cavity of the frame of the bogies whose lateral edges each have a separate stop (9, 10) and that houses a lower projecting part (4) of the body. In one embodiment, on the front edge of the interior cavity of the frame (1) of the bogie, there is a pair of joints (11) from each of which a rod (5, 6) leads backwards and each of these is joined to a separate slider (7) by means of joints. The sliders (7) are able to move on guides located on the respective lateral surfaces of the lower projecting part (4) of the body, and the sliders (7) are wedge shaped with a guide located on their surface in the form of an inclined plane. The stops (8) of the body are coupled, at their respective inside surfaces, to the guides located on the respective sliders (7); the stops (8) of the body are joined together by transversal connection means (15).Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2009Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: Patentes Talgo, S.L.Inventor: José Luis López Gómez

Patent number: 8479659Abstract: The invention relates to devices for moving the buffers of articulated cars of railway vehicles travelling on a curve. The devices are disposed between two adjoining cars (6, 6?) articulated by a transversely centered coupling or linkage (12), said cars (6, 6?) including a front-end projecting element (9) which is joined to the coupling or linkage (12) extending from the rear end of the next car. In all embodiments of the invention, as the buffers (3) move sideways under the action of skids (2) or other means towards the center of the curve at the part of the device closest to the wheels (7) on the inner part of the curve, the sideways movement of the car into the curve is limited as the buffers (3) come into contact with the corresponding surface of the wheel set, obstructing the sideways movement of the car.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2009Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: Patentes Talgo, S.L.Inventor: José Luis López Gómez
