  • Patent number: 8277418
Abstract: In various embodiments, a trocar cannula may be configured for insertion into an eye to facilitate insertion and removal of instruments during surgery. The cannula may be affixed to an overcap (to inhibit rotation of the overcap relative to the cannula) that includes a seal. In some embodiments, the seal may be overmolded into the overcap or may include a wafer that is fixed between the cannula and the overcap to inhibit rotation relative to the cannula and the overcap. In some embodiments, the cannula and overcap may snap together through a tab/slot interface in a permanent fashion such that the cannula and overcap may not be separated without damaging the cannula or overcap. In some embodiments, a vent cannula may be receivable in the slit of the seal for allowing fluids to vent from the eye through the cannula (which may include an indentation to frictionally engage the vent).

  • Publication number: 20120206554
Abstract: An audio/video communication method displays the status of participants in a video chat session. The method employs multiple video chat capable (VCC) information handling systems (IHSs) that display video images of the participants. In this manner, each user may see the user's own video image as well as the video images of other users in the video chat session. When a user speaks, that user's VCC IHS detects audio, thus designating a speaker participant. This user's VCC IHS includes a gaze direction detector that determines at which particular user video image the user gazes, thus determining a target participant. The VCC IHS sends speaker participant ID information and target participant ID information to other VCC IHSs in the video chat session. In response, the other VCC IHSs display an indicator that designates one user video image as the speaker participant and another user video image as the target participant.

  • Publication number: 20110297036
Abstract: Devices to shift the stops (8) of rail vehicle bodies or coaches with bogies on curves and rail vehicle body with bogies. The devices are provided in an interior cavity of the frame of the bogies whose lateral edges each have a separate stop (9, 10) and that houses a lower projecting part (4) of the body. In one embodiment, on the front edge of the interior cavity of the frame (1) of the bogie, there is a pair of joints (11) from each of which a rod (5, 6) leads backwards and each of these is joined to a separate slider (7) by means of joints. The sliders (7) are able to move on guides located on the respective lateral surfaces of the lower projecting part (4) of the body, and the sliders (7) are wedge shaped with a guide located on their surface in the form of an inclined plane. The stops (8) of the body are coupled, at their respective inside surfaces, to the guides located on the respective sliders (7); the stops (8) of the body are joined together by transversal connection means (15).

  • Publication number: 20110185938
Abstract: The invention relates to devices for moving the buffers of articulated cars of railway vehicles travelling on a curve. The devices are disposed between two adjoining cars (6, 6?) articulated by a transversely centred coupling or linkage (12), said cars (6, 6?) including a front-end projecting element (9) which is joined to the coupling or linkage (12) extending from the rear end of the next car. In all embodiments of the invention, as the buffers (3) move sideways under the action of skids (2) or other means towards the centre of the curve at the part of the device closest to the wheels (7) on the inner part of the curve, the sideways movement of the car into the curve is limited as the buffers (3) come into contact with the corresponding surface of the wheel set, obstructing the sideways movement of the car.

  • Publication number: 20090186066
Abstract: The method comprises, in general, the formation of a chitosan based film, the stabilization of said film and the activation of the cell adherence capacity by means of drying the stabilized and washed film. Additionally, the film may be biologically activated by means of fixing with a substance with biological activity. The films obtained have an increased cell adherence capacity, and, optionally, are biologically activated. These films may be used to induce a biological activity in a recipient organism, and/or for enhancing the osteointegration of implants of dental or traumatologic use and/or for regenerating osseous tissue.

  • Publication number: 20030103216
Abstract: Device and process for measuring ovalization, buckling, planes and rolling parameters of railway wheels by use of a rolling rail (2) along which the outermost part of the wheel (1) to be measured is made to pass at approximately 10 km/h. Various sensors (7) detect the presence of the wheel in the measuring area, such that they activate the device. A collimated laser beam system (6) projects a solid light beam on the wheel, constantly interfering therewith producing images which are reflected on a screen (4). These images are recorded by a camera (5) and sent to an artificial viewing system (9) where the necessary parameters are calculated, on the basis of which the required measurements are obtained. The results obtained are sent to a computer (10) where the measurement reports are generated.

  • Patent number: 6405656
Abstract: Disseminated traction arrangement applied to single-axle train wheel sets provided with independent wheels, comprising, for each wheel (7), a traction motor (8), an extensible shaft (9) which, at one of its ends, is connected to the axle of the traction motor (8) and, at its other end, ends in a pinion (5), and a crown wheel (6) connected to the axle (15) of the wheel (7) and which engages, with the pinion (5) mounted on the shaft (9), so that by means of the pinion-crown group (5, 6) thus formed, the traction power generated by the motor (8) is transmitted to the wheel (7). The invention is applicable to wheel sets incorporated in the connection area between two adjacent train waggons.

  • Patent number: 6233050
Abstract: Apparatus and process for measuring the unroundness and diameter of railway wheels in which a rolling rail is provided on which rolls a railway wheel to be measured, and a guard-rail centers the wheel during the measurement process. Several light sources project light beams at the periphery of the wheel at different transverse locations, such that the light beams continuously intersect the flange and rolling band of the wheel. The images produced by the light beams pass through filters to video cameras which store the images, and sends them to a computer which can process the images and determine unroundness and wheel diameter. The measurement process is initiated by a trigger system which detects the presence of a wheel on the rail and activates the measuring equipment when the wheel is at the beginning of a measuring zone and deactivates the equipment when the wheel is at the end of the measuring zone. The invention is applicable to the repair and maintenance of railway wheels.

  • Patent number: 6003232
Abstract: Installation for measuring the wheel offset of railway vehicles. It makes it possible to obtain three circumferential profiles of the zone of contact of the running tread of said wheels as the railway vehicles travel at low speed over the installation. Once the data have been processed by computer equipment, the offset and the shape error are detected in real time. The installation is made up of equipment, at the foot of the track, formed by a running support with its guard rail, wheel-position sensors, a system for picking up radial displacements and an electronic control system. This system transmits the data to computer equipment where the process is carried out and the statistics generated and in which the results are displayed and stored.
