  • Publication number: 20180286219
Abstract: A taxi or other vehicle summoned by someone who needs a ride can be remotely controlled to announce its presence by the person who summoned the taxi or other vehicle. Using a cell phone, a user establishes a wireless communications link between his or her cell phone and a cell phone in the taxi or other vehicle. A second wireless link between the taxi-located cell phone and the vehicle's control bus enables commands to be sent to the vehicle's horn, lights and other annunciators from the user's cell phone. Images of the requesting user can also be sent to the taxi-located cell phone.

  • Publication number: 20180251235
Abstract: A system and method for detecting and removing moisture in a vehicle such as a commercial aircraft is disclosed. Moisture detection sensors are mounted in areas of the vehicle which are inaccessible during use. The sensors output a signal when moisture is present in an adjacent area. Conduits are installed in the vehicle with a first end adjacent to an associated moisture detection sensors. A dry gas supply unit that is separate from the vehicle is coupled to a second end of each conduits to selectively supply dry gas thereto. The dry gas supply unit selectively supplies dry gas to the second end of each conduit when an associated moisture detection sensor outputs a signal indicating that moisture is present in the adjacent area. The moisture detection sensors are preferably passive and only output a signal upon receipt of an external interrogation signal from the dry gas supply unit controller.

  • Patent number: 9878450
Abstract: A method and apparatus for positioning one component relative to another component. First metrology data may be identified for a first component and second metrology data may be identified for a second component. First locations of first features may be identified on the first component using the first metrology data. Second locations of second features on the second component may be identified using the second metrology data. A transformation may be computed based on the first locations identified and the second locations identified for use in modifying a movement plan of a robotic system for positioning the second component relative to the first component.

  • Publication number: 20160176375
Abstract: A precipitation detector, a single actuation of a switch or the departure of a drive triggers operation of a motor to close a window, sun roof or convertible top. In order to prevent injury to a person who might be nearby the vehicle when the motor operates, humanoid detectors monitor the area around a vehicle and detect whether a person is nearby and who could thus be injured by a computer-controlled operation of the window, sun roof or top. The operation of a power window, sun roof or convertible top is stopped or inhibited when a person is detected near the vehicle in order to prevent the person from being injured by the closure of with window, sun roof or top.

  • Publication number: 20160068143
Abstract: A safe driving system for alerting a driver within a vehicle is provided. The system includes a driver assistance device configured to perform at least one of the following: automatically braking the vehicle if the vehicle is within a predetermined distance of a second vehicle and providing blind spot assistance. The system also includes a controller configured to track a driver's face with an interior camera resulting in tracked driver's face data. The controller is configured to determine whether the driver is distracted based on the tracked driver's face data. The controller is configured to activate the driver assistance device if the driver is distracted and the hazard detecting device detects at least one of the second vehicle or a third vehicle in the blind spot of the driver. • Patent number: 8855866
Abstract: A method of controlling stability of a vehicle comprises monitoring vehicle information with an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit determines if a rear collision from a second vehicle approaching from a rear direction is likely. A first response signal is sent to at least one vehicle system from the electronic control unit prior to the rear collision. The at least one vehicle system changes state based upon the first response signal to prepare the vehicle for the rear collision.

  • Patent number: 5960500
Abstract: The apparatus is a washer, thickener and classifier for recovering solids from liquids including a truncated conical screen with walls typically sixty degrees from the horizontal and formed of filter media. Stock sprayer assemblies rotate about a longitudinal axis of said conical screen and direct stock, particularly deink paper stock, onto the walls of the conical screen. Wash fluid sprayer assemblies, including high impact shower nozzles, direct wash fluid onto the stock on the walls of the conical screen. The wash fluid cleans the stock, with the unwanted solids and contaminants passing through the conical screen to the discharge pipes. The wash fluid similarly washes the cleaned stock through the exit formed at the truncated portion formed at the apex of the conical screen for subsequent processing.

  • Patent number: 5259955
Abstract: A strainer device is disclosed for continuously separating liquids from a solid/liquid mixture, the strainer including a screen receiving said solid/liquid mixture and a container under reduced pressure disposed under the screen to collect the strained liquid. High pressure fluid is used to roll the solids off the screen to insure that the solids do not plug the screen. If recycled water is used, a spring-loaded nozzle is also provided which may be purged. The device may also be used for thickening a solid liquid mixture. Preferably an angled or conical screen is used.

  • Patent number: 4857747
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating in real time full width formation profiles of a web of material which passes between a light source and a camera which generates signals corresponding to the light intensity across the entire width of the web as compared to single point or sample measurements. These signals are then processed to generate in real time at a full width formation profile of the web.
