  • Patent number: 9225739
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to determining a risk of encountering malware based on social context, to determining malware threats based on social associations and to ranking antimalware programs according to the program's ability to protect against specific threats. In one scenario, a computer system receives a malware notification associated with a user that identifies a type of malware encountered by the user. The computer system identifies various persons that are part of a social group associated with the user and determines that at least one of the identified persons associated with the user has an increased likelihood of encountering the identified type of malware, based on information derived from identifying the persons that are part of the social group. Optionally, the computer system notifies the identified persons of the increased likelihood of encountering the identified type of malware.

  • Publication number: 20150312165
Abstract: The present invention relates to a temporal base method of mutual exclusion control of a shared resource. The invention will usually be implemented by a plurality of host computers sharing a shared resource where each host computer will read a reservation memory that is associated with the shared resource. Typically a first host computer will perform and initial read of the reservation memory and when the reservation memory indicates that the shared resource is available, the first host computer will write to the reservation memory. After a time delay, the host computer will read the reservation memory again to determine whether it has won access to the resource. The first host computer may determine that it has won access to the shared resource by checking that data in the reservation memory includes an identifier corresponding to the first host computer.

  • Patent number: 9158474
Abstract: Tape device paths, library slots and drive information are automatically collected by agents at nodes in a library cluster. The information is reported to a central server database. The central server accesses the information and maps tape devices to path information so an administrator may easily have access to configuration information for the tape device cluster. When a tape device cluster is updated, for example through changes to a device, an added device, device failure or some other reason, the change is detected and the cluster configuration is automatically updated.

  • Publication number: 20150247942
Abstract: Various implementations described herein are directed to a method for assessing risks of compartmentalization. In one implementation, the method may include receiving seismic data for a formation of interest; identifying areas in the formation having a dip angle greater than about 30 degrees; performing a plurality of downhole fluid analysis (DFA) within a wellbore around the formation having the dip angle greater than about 30 degrees to identify areas experiencing mass density inversion; and determining the areas experiencing mass density inversion by DFA as having one or more risks of compartmentalization.

  • Publication number: 20150247941
Abstract: Various implementations directed to the integration of seismic data with downhole fluid analysis to predict the location of heavy hydrocarbon are provided. In one implementation, a method may include receiving seismic data for a hydrocarbon reservoir of interest. The method may also include identifying geological features associated with a secondary gas charge from the seismic data. The method may further include determining the proximity of the geological features to the hydrocarbon reservoir of interest. The method may additionally include receiving preliminary downhole fluid analysis (DFA) data from formations at or near the hydrocarbon reservoir of interest. The method may further include analyzing the preliminary DFA data to determine the equilibrium state of the hydrocarbon reservoir and to confirm the secondary gas charge in the hydrocarbon reservoir. The method may also include determining whether to perform one or more additional DFA's.

  • Publication number: 20150227904
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may provide systems and methods for processing a payment coupon image. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving an image representing a payment coupon from a payer, determining an identity of a biller associated with the payment coupon based at least in part on information displayed by the image, and extracting data from the image based at least in part on payment coupon metadata associated with the biller indicating a layout of the payment coupon. The method may further include performing at least one of: (a) processing a payment associated with the payment coupon to the biller based at least in part on the data extracted from the image; (b) adding the biller to a list of billers for a payer associated with the payment coupon; or (c) activating the biller as an electronic biller for the payer associated with the payment coupon.

  • Patent number: 9089918
Abstract: A grounding system is provided for welding applications. The system comprises a pair of contacts that are brought into close grounding contact with a workpiece, and a measurement circuit coupled to the contacts. The contacts may be urged into intimate contact with the workpiece by a biasing structure that pulls the contacts tightly against the workpiece. The measurement circuit may include a center-tap transformer having a secondary coupled to a ground lead and to the contacts. A primary winding of the transformer is coupled to an oscillator that executes a measurement test. The system may provide an indication of the quality of the ground in the form of an operator perceptible notification, a digitized value, or any other suitable form.

  • Publication number: 20150043102
Abstract: A two part process is used for modifying records to be written and retrieved from tape devices. A record is appended with a cyclic redundancy check and a string of zeros. Submitting the entire record to tape drives which are logical block protection enabled will result in no change. For drives that are not LBP enabled, the string of zeros at the end of the record is removed. In addition to determining whether a drive is LBP compliant, a determination may be made as to whether a drive is a linear tape open drive from a particular manufacturer. Linear tape open drives may behave similarly as drives which may not be enabled with logical block protection.
