  • Patent number: 7073050
Abstract: The machine-native format of a machine reported configuration data set is identifying, and a set of rules is employed to translate the data set from machine-native format into a common format such as sales nomenclature. The common format configuration information is stored in a globally accessible repository, and retrieved to produce accurate and comprehensive configuration reports for complex configurable systems such as computer servers. These configuration reports may be utilized in order and need fulfillment, such as ordering system upgrades and repair components, scheduling manufacturing, assembly and shipping.

  • Publication number: 20040241771
Abstract: Electrodes and configurations for electrochemical bioreactor systems that can use electrical energy as a source of reducing power in fermentation or enzymatic reactions and that can use electron mediators and a biocatalyst, such as cells or enzymes, to produce electricity are disclosed. Example electrodes in the system may comprise: (1) neutral red covalently bound to graphite felt (FIG. 1); (2) a carboxylated cellulose bound to the graphite fell, neutral red bound to the carboxylated cellulose, NAD+ bound to the graphite fell, and an oxidoreductase (e.g., fumarate reductase) bound to the graphite fell; or (3) a metal ion electron mediator bound to graphite. Various biocatalysts, such as an oxidoreductase, cells of Actinobacillus succinogenes, cells of Escherichia coli, and sewage sludge, are suitable for use in the electrochemical bioreactor system.

  • Patent number: 5698814
Abstract: A penetrating bomb weapon comprising a long hollow cylinder constructed of high strength steel or similar material and including a pointed nose to aid in penetration of media such as concrete, soil, steel or a hardened surface. The cylinder contains an insensitive explosive that is separated into segments by shock attenuating materials so that one segment of the cylinder may detonate without detonating or destroying adjacent segments. The number of segments may be two or more depending on the complexity of the target to be attacked. Initiation of the main charge within each segment is achieved using explosive boosters positioned so that shocks transferred to adjacent segments, and the initiation train of these segments, is minimized. Separation of the segments is accomplished using explosive cutter charges which perforate and/or spall through the case wall of the penetrator bomb.

  • Patent number: 5390501
Abstract: A hydraulic conveyance system serves to level out a spiked, uneven flow of particulate material to a more even flow condition prior to the particles being delivered to a destination. In one particular application, the hydraulic conveyance system permits ice particles to be delivered from a batch discharge ice machine of a thermal energy production, storage and reclaim system to the thermal energy storage tank of the system at a relatively even rate, without the use of any mechanical delivery mechanisms. The hydraulic conveyance system incorporates a flooded hold-up tank which, in the case of particulate ice conveyance, receives the spiked, batch discharge from the ice machine and discharges the ice therefrom to a selected number of destination points at a more even flow condition. A rotational movement is imparted to the water surface in the flooded hold-up tank, thereby causing the floating ice particles to rotate in the tank in proximity to a boundary wall of the tank.

  • Patent number: 5046551
Abstract: Disclosed is a long term thermal energy production, storage and reclaim system that benefits the electric utility and its customers by shifting electricity usage from a spiked, high power, direct acting basis operated largely during seasonal peak demand periods to a long term level load at a significantly lower power level. The electricity usage shift is achieved by long term storage of thermal energy generated by a continuously operated low power level prime mover and the use of the stored energy on demand to satisfy the seasonal thermal load. The initial cost of the long term thermal energy production, storage and reclaim system is cost competitive with that of direct acting systems for satisfying the same loads. By using the system, the customer saves significantly on energy charges during the life of the system due to a rate structure that provides favorable rates for customers who do not adversely impact the utility's annual load factor.

  • Patent number: 4877204
Abstract: A tilt/swivel display base for a product such as video display terminals and similar devices. The base contains few moving parts and results in only a limited displacement above the work surface. The display base has one or more rocker legs which have arcuate cross sections. The rocker legs allow forward and backward tilting of the video display terminal. Locking wedges are provided to stabilize the display base in a selected position. Swiveling is accomplished by rotating the entire video display terminal and display base about a vertical axis. Rotation about a vertical axis is possible due to the small area of contact between the display base rocker legs and the work surface. The locking wedges are maintained in position by locking wedge flanges with mate with a groove in the rocker leg. A tensioning device is provided to insure constant pressure between the locking wedge and the rocker leg. A stop can be incorporated on the rocker legs to prevent excessive tilting.
