  • Publication number: 20170337396
Abstract: A method and apparatus useful to sequester sensitive identifiable data from the data associated therewith and store this sensitive data in a shielded limited access structure while the associated data is periodically processed in a data center while concurrently scanned for potential malware/ransomware script. Once thus cleaned the data processed in the data center is then converted to a read only form and as thus converted brought to the limited access structure where it is screened once again for script tags and if none are found is then merged with the corresponding identifiable data to be printed and mailed. This repeated screening pass together with the periodic nature of the data center's operations combine to minimize all potential exposure to unwanted data contamination while the secured nature of the limited access structure can be used for secure long term storage.

  • Patent number: 9782433
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, the present invention relates to a substantially homogeneous miscible liquid adhesive composition comprising a relatively high number average molecular weight (Mn=6,000-10,000 g/mole) cyanoacrylate tri-telechelic star polymer having polyisobutylene chains terminated with cyanoacrylate groups (High-Ø(PIB-CA)3); 2-octyl cyanoacrylate (Oct-CA); and a relatively low molecular weight (Mn=1,000-4,000 g/mole) cyanoacrylate tri-telechelic star polymer having polyisobutylene chains terminated with cyanoacrylate groups (Low-Ø(PIB-CA)3). The Low-Ø(PIB-CA)3 compatibilizes the High-Ø(PIB-CA)3 and Oct-CA removing the need for a solvent. When the substantially homogeneous miscible liquid adhesive compositions of various embodiments are reacted with a nucleophile, such as water or an initiator, they form a polymer co-network suitable for any of a number of biomedical applications, from wound closure and healing of skin tissue, to sealant for surgical cuts.

  • Publication number: 20170260318
Abstract: Sulfur containing, hydroxyl-telechelic PIBs, hydrolytically and oxidatively resistant, biocompatible and biostable polyurethanes (PUs) made therefrom, and methods for making both are disclosed. Well-defined hydroxyl telechelic PIBs are synthesized by a thiol-ene click photochemical reaction between PIBs carrying unsaturated end groups and 2-mercaptoethanol (HS—CH2CH2—OH). This regioselective process affords HO—CH2CH2—S-PIB-S—CH2CH2—OH (abbreviated herein as HO—S-PIB-S—OH) in high yield. In some embodiments, these HO—S-PIB-S—OH polymers may be reacted with diisocyanates and a chain extender to form sulfur containing PIB-based PUs. These sulfur containing PIB-based PUs have been found to have properties and chemical stability that are very similar to that of PUs made from di-hydroxyl terminated PIBs (OH-PIB-OHs) without sulfur, but have surprisingly increased creep resistance and are easier and less expensive to make.

  • Patent number: 9701781
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel hydroxyl-terminated polyisobutylenes and methods of making and using them. The hydroxyl-terminated polyisobutylenes contain a sulfur unit, —S—, within each terminal end group. The well-defined, sulfur containing, primary hydroxyl-terminated polyisobutylenes of the present invention can be simply, rapidly, and essentially quantitatively obtained by subjecting the unsaturated telechelic PIBs and mercapto alcohols to UV light-activated thiol-ene reactions. The resultant sulfur containing, primary hydroxyl-terminated polyisobutylenes can then be used in the production of polyurethanes and like materials.

  • Patent number: 9695286
Abstract: A family of silicone rubbers (e.g., polydimethylsiloxane) carrying one or more cyanoacrylate groups and their methods of production are provided. These silicone rubbers endowed with cyanoacrylate groups are useful in a variety of wound care applications, including wound closures, adhesives, sealants and skin protectors. The silicone rubber moiety provides oxygen and moisture permeability (i.e., “breathability”), biocompatibility, optical transparency, and good mechanical properties, while the cyanoacrylate group imparts instantaneous adhesion/attachment to living tissues such as skin on par with that of contemporary cyanoacrylate-based wound care products.

  • Patent number: 9603868
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a substantially homogeneous miscible liquid adhesive composition comprising a relatively high number average molecular weight (Mn=6,000-10,000 g/mole) multi-arm star polymer having polyisobutylene chains terminated with cyanoacrylate groups (High-Ø(PIB-CA)3); 2-octyl cyanoacrylate (Oct-CA); and a low boiling point biocompatible solvent having a boiling point of not more than 37° C.
