  • Publication number: 20160255076
Abstract: Disclosed is a personal device container system. The personal device container system typically includes a processor, a memory, and an access management module stored in the memory. The personal device container system is typically configured to establish network communication between a personal computing device and a provisioning system that validates the identity of the personal computing device and provides a certificate to the personal computing device. Thereafter, the personal computing device requests access to a secured network segment and provides the certificate to the personal device container system. The personal device container system then authenticates the personal computing device's certificate before allowing the personal computing device to communicate with the secured network segment. User credentials associated with a user are authenticated before user-specific content associated with the user is provided to the personal computing device.

Abstract: Some embodiments include a method of operating a detection sensor array. The detection sensor array has multiple detection sensors. Each detection sensor of the multiple detection sensors has an enabled state and a disabled state, and each detection sensor of the multiple detection sensors is configured to detect and identify electromagnetic radiation when in the enabled state and not to detect and identify electromagnetic radiation when in the disabled state. The detection sensor array also has a test state in which all of the multiple detection sensors operate in the enabled state when the detection sensor array is in the test state. Other embodiments of related systems and methods are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20160230650
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes a passive or semi-passive inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between an open position and a closed position solely by aerodynamic forces on the mechanism. The inlet-adjustment mechanism includes a plurality of flexible vanes collectively forming a duct, and an effective diameter of the air inlet at the inducer portion of the compressor wheel is determined by a trailing edge inside diameter of the duct. The vanes are movable solely or in part by aerodynamic forces exerted on the vanes by the air flowing to the compressor wheel. The duct has a tapering configuration when the vanes are in a relaxed state, but under aerodynamic force the vanes flex outwardly and increase the trailing edge inside diameter of the duct, thereby increasing an effective diameter of the air inlet.

  • Publication number: 20160177956
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes an inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between an open position and a closed position in the air inlet. The inlet-adjustment mechanism includes a variable-geometry orifice actuated by a rotatable actuator ring. In the closed position, the orifice's inner diameter is smaller than that of a shroud surface of the compressor housing and therefore dictates the effective inlet diameter for the compressor. In the open position the orifice no longer forms an inner diameter smaller than the shroud surface, so that the effective inlet diameter is determined by the shroud surface.

  • Publication number: 20160131145
Abstract: A ported-shroud centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes an inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between an open position and a closed position in the air inlet. The inlet-adjustment mechanism includes an axially elongated ring. In the open position, the radially outer surface of the ring is spaced from a tapering inner surface of the air inlet so that air can flow in an annular passage between the tapering surface and the ring, and the ring opens the ported shroud. In the closed position, the ring abuts the tapering surface to close off the annular passage and to close off the ported shroud. Movement of the inlet-adjustment mechanism from the open position to the closed position is effective to shift the compressor's surge line to lower flow rates.

  • Publication number: 20160123548
Abstract: The quest for efficient lighting has been around for generations. LED (light emitting diode) is an efficient way to illuminate. Predecessors like the florescent light and standard incandescent light sources proved to only generate a fraction of the light source provided by a LED. Florescent light only provides a ΒΌ of a LED's illumination, and a standard incandescent light provides 1/20th of a LED's illumination. The self-powered device provides a compact, durable solution for efficient lighting through utilizing energy from the sun, as well as the potential to transfer solar energy to other small portable devices.
